From Park City it's about an hour and 15 minutes if weather is good up I-80 to I-84. Very pretty drive.
It's a great resort. The lodge's on the property are nicer than most high end country clubs. They have 2 gondola's which are really nice if the weather is nasty. Gives you a chance to regroup before combating the elements.
If you're a good skier I highly recommend hiking up behind the top of the Strawberry Lift to Lone Tree. (Don't tell your friends)

Hey I am actually interested in both the banana magic and the targas. How do you like them? I had a skate banana but it was too soft for me. I currently ride Rome 390s which are great.

I love both of them. I came from an old Ride All-Mountain deck, so I can't compare to a Skate Banana. I mostly freeride and I'm rarely in the park. I'd rather be ripping it up in the trees or powder and hitting natural features than in the park.

With that said... The board is incredible. I don't know if it's the magnetraction or the reverse camber design, but I can carve infinitely harder and faster than I could on my old board. It was like going from a Harley Davidson full dresser to a Ducati 1098.

Regarding the Targas: I went from a pair of Burton Cartels to these and I like these a lot better. Not that the cartels were bad, but these can be completely customized to your boot and riding style. It actually took me about an hour to set them up based on the directions given in the box. I have the "medium" ankle strap inserts in, but you can take those out for a very soft flex or add the "hard" flex insert in to get a very stiff binding. Only downside so far is that I keep hearing this clicking noise on when switching from toeside to heelside carves. I think I just need to adjust the high back so that it sits more flush into the heel basket.

Other than...the new setup is awesome. Can't wait to get out to CO to really ride it, as I've actually only ridden twice so far this and both times at Holly.

Nice! I just got a GNU Rider's Choice last year and didn't get to ride it until a few weeks ago at Holly. Before that, I was riding the same Burton Brian Igucchi since about 1995. But wow, I can carve so much better now, not sure it it's the Magnetraction either or just because it's a newer board with sharper edges or what, but it makes a world of difference. It took me about an our to really get used to it, but after I figured out, it was a lot more responsive and stable. Can't wait to take it up north in a couple weeks and take it on a bigger hill.

I've got the Burton Cartels. I wanted the Targas but I found a great deal on these and they are already a huge step up from what I was riding on before. Plus I can't really tell much of a difference between bindings, they're soft, they keep my feet attached to my board, and they're easy to get in and out of. No complaints from me.

I don't board or ski - but to all those self righteous skiers who think they own the mountain - fuck you you don't own the place..

.01 really? I think it's just a little higher than that. If you can't ride switch all the way down a run on a snowboard you are probably pretty bad and shoul stick to the cat tracks or blues. While I agree most snowboarders suck ass and ruin snow, skiers are just as bad. Don't get me started on the people that snow plow the whole way down or even the people that ski back and forth across the whole run going 2 mph.

Snowbasin, for sure.

All those resorts are awesome, when I lived in SLC I used to ski Solitude a lot. Both Solitude and Brighton offer that classic Cottonwood experience. Great resorts.

But Snowbasing is special in it's own right, lots of natural contours and interesting lines. Great tree skiing, and they are right there with snow totals as well....though, Powder Mountain gets a little more close by. Snowbasin is a great experience, different and worthy. Great verticle in the runs and the fall lines always seem to be right. there is something about all the natural features, makes for a good time.

I've been to mostbofnthe places you guys are mentioning but none of them come close to whistler. Whistlers weather can be very off and on toasted the beginning and end of the season. If you go there during January or February nothing even comes close. The heli skiing is top notch. If you are an avid skier/boarder do yourself a favor and drop the $$ to go to whistler. They also built a new peak to peak gondola that takes 10-15 minutes and you can ski both mountains. I personally love backcomb mountain more than whistler, the glaciers over there are amazing to ride and are only a short hike away. Not to mention the ridiculous amount of snow on the hills.

I would assume if it's rockered (reverse camber) it would struggle at higher speeds.

Rocker makes it easier to initiate turns, easier to spin, easier to float in powder but at higher speeds, especially on hardpack, rockered boards and skis tend to struggle. The u/v shape of the rocker brings the contact points on the board closer to your feet. That causes lack of control and more chatter.

On a purely technical level, a completely rockered board is only functional as a powder board or a pipe/park board.

Now. After looking at the board, it's rockered between the foot, yet still cambered underfoot. This is a "best of both worlds" type scenario. That provides greater length between contact points, but a more surfy, quick to edge board.

The Banana Magic, as Snowy pointed out, is considered a "hybrid" rockered design where it has reverse camber between the feet and then regular camber past the bindings.

This is actually how most companies are heading instead of just a rocker style (regular banana). K2 does flat rocker where it's completely flat instead of camber or reverse, except at the tip and tail which are reverse. Never summer's line is all reverse camber now...and there was a power struggle between them and Lib Tech regarding the patent. Lib put it in first but with less detail, NS received their patent first.

Anyway...regarding chatter. I don't have much chance to really charge at Mt Holly, but I did get cruising pretty fast on Friday and it was stable as my old cambered board, or at least so unnoticeable that I couldn't tell a difference.
