This one looks bad in the picture. It was right after I got it done and is swollen, red and covered in A&D. Looks much better now.

Maybe it wasn't A&D. It was whatever the artist put on before he wrapped it. But i've always heard you should use A&D for the first week. Then an unscented and uncolored lotion for another 2 weeks.

I used regular lotion on mine. Worked out great.

That is the correct method of doing it. And wash it with anti-bacterial soap for five days, using hot water the first two days. I think a lot of it is bullshit, though; as long as you use the lotion it should heal just fine. I've never heard of someone's tat just going to shit because of putting the wrong thing on it.

I used A&D one and the tattoo turned it fine.
Since then, better tattoo artists have told me just use hand lotion four or five times a day, whenever it felt dry, for the first week. Then I do it like 3 times a day, morning, afternoon and before I went to sleep until it fully healed.
