I expect game prices for the 720 to jump at least another $10. I remember when n64 games were only $49.

  • My stubbornness to keep the $49 days alive has caused me to excluseivly purchase pre-owned games nowadays.

You mean all the way back 16 years ago?

I wouldn't be surprised to see them stay the same price. Game developers/distributors have found a nice harmony with the game prices. You'll get raped on DLC but the games themselves I'd expect to stay the same $60 for AAA titles.

Yeah I mean it's not like I expect those prices to come back. I was just saying that it was nice when a 9-13 year old could save up 50 dollars in allowance to get a game they wanted for months. It was more nostolgia than a complaint.

So shouldn't it be the Xbox 2160 shrug

  • I could see it getting delayed. I am going to wait for the price to drop none the less. Launch games usually suck. The first batch of sports games always suck and I can't justify spending $500+. If GTA V is launched on next gen that could change things

Yeah man, now 9-13 year olds have to save up 60 dollars in allowance to get a game they wanted for months. That is a whole 10 dollars more!

I hear the going rate for babysitting nowadays is like 10-12/hour. One Saturday of babysitting gets you a game. When i was 9-13 babysitting netted me 3-5 an hour (and that was during the n64 era - im not that old). I think the kids will be fine.

  • This really isn't that significant of a jump, and would look very similar to the rumored Wii U specs.

lol thinking most kids buy their own video games these days...

  • Im just curious if they'll skip blu ray and focus only on streaming, and use some custom high capacity optical disc for the games.

Honestly touting that it should perform 20% better than the Wii U is pretty unimpressive.

Especially if it comes out a year after the Wii U.

Help me out...but how much were brand new NES games back in the day? I don't remember them being any less than $40. I think a $20 increase in the cost of video games (in about 25+ years) is pretty palatable considering the product you get now versus then.

Either way...considering me in for the launch of this one!!

  • I have a HD Radeon 6670 in my computer. It's a great mid range card that gives you a lot of bang for your buck. However, putting it in a next gen console seems like a bit of a stretch. It's possible M$ is focusing more on multimedia capabilities and incorporating the Kinect 2 than building a hardcore gaming machine.

Yes, I think that is very possible- Microsoft and Sony initially lost a ton of money this generation. I think Microsoft wants to be profitable day 1.

  • 6670 = crap

PC gaming will absolutely slaughter the power of a console before it's released.

MS needs to put in a 8850 into the damn box to keep pace.

PC gaming has been slaughtering console gaming for a while now as far as performance and capabilities. The problem is that less people have the want or the ability to pay $1000 to buy a decent gaming system versus paying $400 to buy a console specifically designed to play games.

You could play sports games on the PC.

Hell you can play most xbox games on the PC and use the controller for the xbox.

Developers shy away from PC gaming because of piracy (rightly or wrongly). That's something consoles are able to control a little better.

Madden would be near life-like if it was being developed for the PC.

Far as the price goes for pc gaming: a 300 dollar computer can beat the crap out of an xbox at the moment far as graphics and raw power goes.
