tOfficial chicago bears draft thread

  • Alright, time to discuss the 2nd round. Who do you Bears fans want to draft? I'm hoping one of the following nine players is still available (forgive me if one of these guys is already gone and I missed it):

    Jerel Worthy
    Stephen Hill
    Peter Konz
    Jonathan Martin
    Mike Adams
    Janoris Jenkins
    Coby Fleener
    Alshon Jeffrey
    Devon Still

    I want Worthy. That's it.

Yeah, that white guy the Packers drafted 26th overall in 2009 was such a terrible pick. What was his name again? Clay something?

The point of your post being?

They were last in the NFL in defense last season. They most likely worked out or looked at several defensive players because of this. That was the point of my post, which you clearly missed. Therefore, I'm not going to be impressed when someone says "Green Bay wanted him" when they were going to take whatever was available defensively when they got on the clock. If a better defensive team had wanted him, I would have been impressed.

No, I definitely understood the point you were trying to make. But that point doesn't make a lot of sense. Just because the Packers needed a defensive player and were terrible on defense last year doesn't mean they were going to "like" any defensive player in the draft.

My point was that it's not like the Packers don't know how to evaluate defensive talent in a draft, as illustrated by them selecting Clay Matthews a few years ago.

They drafted Justin Harrell in 2007, who was a bust.

Patrick Lee, CB - 2nd rd pick in 2008, 18 career tackles, plays for the Raiders and has never started.
Aaron Rouse, S - 3rd rd pick in 2007, playing in the UFL
Mike Neal, DT - 2nd rd pick in 2010, 3 career tackles, jury arguably still out

They don't bat that high of an average with defensive draft picks and were too busy drafting WRs in the first three rounds of the past five drafts to really make themselves competitive on defense.

    Point taken.

I guess I was trying to say that just because they had a bad defense doesn't mean they are going to be wrong about McClellin. Sure, he could turn out to be a bust, but he could also turn out to be a Clay Matthews.

Definitely true. I liked Billy Wynn off Boise's D-line better, but I'm also not an NFL GM or a scout lol

Bears must go O-Line for Pick 2, no?

Yeah, I thought O-Line would be a good idea, but I honestly think they are happy with the guys they have on the line right now. From everything I've read, they think Martz' offense played a huge part in why the line struggled, and with Tice calling the shots, they will be improved. Who knows how true that will turn out to be.

But I don't mind who they ended up with after trading up. Alshon Jeffrey is a freak athlete, I just don't know how much of a "football player" he is, if you know what I mean.

I like the Jeffrey pickup, and I feel alot better about the pick from last night today as well.

Need to get an offensive lineman next.

Maybe the Bears should draft Jay Cutler a personality.

I'm hoping they pick up Cousins as their back up
