Apparently Lansingites rave about Art's Bar on Kalamazoo.

Place is dingy and I've just never felt like ordering pizza there.

Art's Bar has great pizza. Traditional crust, with LOT of cheese.

Also, I can't remember if I have posted in this thread or not, but Andrea's Pizza in GR is the best take out pizza I've had.

I like Jets and B&C Pizza in Bay City.

Grew up in Saginaw but my dad worked in bay city for 20 years and I've eaten BC hundreds of times. Un Friggin believable.

Tried it once after the rave reviews on this board, threw away 1/2 the pizza. A pizza loaded with extra cheese is not always a good thing.

I'm sure it's been mentioned but Benito's in the Detroit area is pretty good.

There's one about a half mile from my house but I've never tried it. What's good there?

    2nd that.

There's one not too far from me. Is their specialty round or square?

Loui's on Dequindre, south of 9 Mile in Warren. To die for.

Their antipasto salad is amazing too.

Louie Tourteau should go down in Detroit food history as the real "Pizza Man". Louie was responsible for Buddy's success in the 1950's-1960's when his uncle bought the place from Gus Guerra (later of Cloverleaf fame). Before Louie opened his place on Dequindre, he turned Shield's from a typical Detroit corner bar on Davison & Shields into a competitor with Buddy's.

It used to be Pizza Papalias but their pie is not as good as it once was. I guess I would probably have to say Green Lantern (the Madison Heights bar variety). Ironically, you would think that given the number of people of Italian descent behind the blue wall, err eastside, that we would have some killer pizza over here. Not so much?! The best couple places I can think of are in south Oakland.

I know a guy who swears that Bell's in EL is on loan from heaven.

Now, Green Lantern has a location on 15 Mile Rd. (West of Utica Rd.) in Clinton Township. It will be interesting how they do there.

Some co-workers living out that way have said they have seen lines out the door. Maybe those are just due to the novelty of having good pizza in the area.

Just looked at Green Latrines website. I was unaware they opened another location, in RO

I live down the street from it and have ordered a couple times since they opened. We now have 3 good places within a couple miles of me. A couple years ago when O put up the original post we had none. The only downfall I can see for Green Lantern is the service is average at best

  • Square deep dish. I usually get the 3 topping, double pepperoni and sausage. 2 cups of ranch.

    Green Lantern

Corner of 12 Mile and John R. in Madison Hts.

You need several napkins to absorb the grease out of the curled pepperoni.

I have eaten here a few times and my best advice would be to stay away. First, the pizza is way too expensive. I almost left after placing my order when the unkempt hispanic guy behind the counter told me how much my slices were going to run me. The slices were covered with grease. I dropped half a slice on the floor by accident and I refused to pick it up and throw it away. If they're going to make them that greasy, then they're going to be have to be there to clean it up off the floor when it becomes impossible to hold onto.

  • I loved Zaa Pizza in Rochester Hills but it somehow went out of business about a year ago. Great pizza, fresh toppings. $5 buffet which included a nice salad bar. Still angry that it had to close.

  • Apparently I posted in this thread 2 years ago. Pizza House is still my fave. Boomer's in New Hudson will always be a fave (my aunt & uncle own it). We also go to Pizza Cutter in Northville a lot--their whole wheat crust is yummy. And I like Bilbo's when I'm in Kzoo.

Someone mentioned Tony Sacco's in Novi--I wasn't really that impressed the one time I had it. And to whoever mentioned Dolly's: the actual Dolly came to my family's garage sale once (we lived in Walled Lake at the time, just down Pontiac Trail from their Novi/Walled Lake store). She was pretty cool!

I'm pretty sure pizza is the perfect food. I don't think I could ever get tired of it.

Never liked Zaa too much, but Antoniou's Town Square Pizza in Rochester is my personal favorite in that area.
