tOfficial scUM vs Western game thread

  • I wonder if the bands will be back again. Western's can't be having the best time, except they are kids yet. I recall a couple of games when I was in the SMB, we had to play our half time show from the sidelines due to wet fields. No artificial turf in those days.smb

so, the take-away is that mattison has quickly realized the only way the D has a chance is to blitz like crazy and pray the team they are playing had to replace their 3 interior OL, and then had the 3 replacements all go down with injuries and are on the second string, leading to basic communication breakdowns on blitz pick-ups.

Precisely. Except the blue wall spin will be on the heroic defensive play against a vaunted and seasoned Bronco defense and how much it is tougher than the one of YSU.

btw, WMU is leading top, and um has 297 yards to 279 for WMU.

That is unpossible, they are being dominated by a MAC team in TOP and yardage. Oh wait, they must have let them do it.

It'a hard to be even in TOP when the defense is scoring touchdowns not allowing the offense to even take the field...

  • Michigan's defense is still severely lacking. Defensive line has been a massive disappointment. I do like Mattison at least trying to get aggressive and dialing up successful blitzes, have to try something.

    Like the offense.

    Special teams look terrible.

Looks like last year, 7-5ish give or take a game in either direction.

We had our hands full last night against a crap fcs team. We better play better or joke beats us

Oh, do we have only 2 offensive players capable of making positive plays as Western does? Carder and White is all that Western has. This all out Madden style blitz is not gonna work on any balanced team. ND will light them up next week and I'm pretty sure we will hang 30+ on them once again and keep Denard off the field with the running game and TOP as per last 2 years. I can't believe people are seriously worried about this scUM team and Hoax, who apparently does not even coach on the sideline.

  • Minnesota is playing very well and will be a thorn in the side of every conference team as long as they can avoid injury to their first unit players. They suffer from a lack of quality depth, but the difference in play from last year to today is very obvious. Kill has definitely instilled a more physical tone.

Michigan opens conference play against Minnesota and many of the UM faithful had this game listed as a sure win. I wouldn't be so quick to agree as I am more impressed the the less heralded Gopher defense than I am with what Mattison has put out on the field.

Spot on. Minny put up a tough fight on a very tough road trip. Pretty sure they won't be intimidated of going anywhere else this year.

    Loser's excuse.

Disappointed with the DL a little bit, doing a lot of quick outs, so hard to get a good rush. Very happy with Ryan, Demens, and a couple other guys. Obviously Herron having 2 td's is nice. Offense has done a little of everything so happy with that. Special teams is obviously a little scary, but for opening day I am ok. After watching ND today I am a lot more confident about that game.

It will be a bad game with 2 bad teams playing each other. I'll watch for laughter. ND probably squeaks it out.

Uh, not sure if you are serious or not. If your D is good, it doesn't matter how may TDs they get. So, you get a Def. TD, then go out and STOP the other team in the next series. Ball is yours and more TOP.

Getting those TDs has nothing to do with TOP.

The ONLY way that my statement wouldn't be correct is if the D got a TD EVERY series OR the offense scored in a couple plays every time(which meeeechigan has not) . Scoring 2 doesn't make a big diference.

There is no comparison between WMU and USF. The Bulls have fielded some pretty decent squads in the last few years, this could possibly be their best team yet and are picked to win the Big East. ND has literally shot themselves in the foot with penalties and turnovers. Looks like ND's running game is having success amid all of the chaos. If ND loses they will come in pissed off and throttle Hoax in AA. if ND comes back and win they will be even more confident and hungry next week with revenge for the debacle in SB last year. Either way, there is going to be some jailsexing under the lights at the hand of the Irish next weekend. Good entertainment for all.

LOL at the game cancelation while i was typing this. Saved by the Radar.
