tRCMB Nebraska tailgate thread

  • BTW... Considering bringing chili. That assumes the standard stuff will be there, like a generator to run the TV and a crock-pot.

    Any news on the satellite dish?

  • I'm on the fence. I have one runner who qualified for the state XC finals. Her race goes off at MIS at 3 (GD MHSAA always runs DI in the afternoon instead of morning!). It's about an hour south along 127. If she medals (quite possible, she's a frosh but has a top 40 time going in) the awards will be at 3:45 and that could back my timetable up a bit (which I wouldn't mind one bit). Regardless, I could be in my seat by halftime or at least the start of 3q. Considering I haven't been to a game since ND I'd like to.

  • FYI, it's not looking good on the satellite dish for this weekend. Trying to get this one replaced and it's taking longer than I would have liked.

    I can certainly bring the generator though for crockpots, etc.

    Shouldn't be a big deal for this weekend, with tickets being so cheap (unfortunately...or fortunately, in this case).

  • Bummer for those of that have gotten spoiled with having the TV there. Out of curiosity, is the old dish still around and is it compatible with the service/receiver for the new dish?

    The old dish and new receiver are not compatible. The receiver only works with the Tailgater Dish. I believe that Trevor has the old receiver too, but not sure if the service is active. Old dish - DirecTV. New dish Dish TV.

    the good news for your runner is that it's going to be pretty dry leading up to Saturday.. that one part of the course where the rain runs off of the track and collects has been like a swamp in the past.. shouldn't have any issues on Saturday..

    Thanks. Oh, and I won't be there. She runs at 3 then is hopefully getting a medal at 3:45 (with a pr of 18:32 she has a legit shot to be my first all-state XC runner since 01) it is just too late. I'll be watching the game at a fellow coaches house in Brooklyn and sending my usual replacements. Enjoy the Marc and Lyle show, MSURed, see you at the NW game (might have wife along as well) assuming it's not too cold for you.

    Is that for TV for the MSU game? Isn't it on ABC so a dish would not be required?

  • I am officially a no for this weekend. I will be in town for the Northwestern game and be looking to unleash a seasons worth of tailgating in one day as a result.

    I'm gonna come. This will be my first RCMB tailgate. I'm too embarrassed about my nerdy Internet obsession to bring anybody along... So I'm rolling in solo. Anybody have an extra ticket for me? Or does anybody want to be my friend and scalp tickets with me?

    And chili... unless there's no demand or desire for that, in which case I'll just put the three pounds of meat I bought today in the freezer and save it for the next TG.

    BTW... I'm terrible at remembering to bring stuff like bowls, utensils, or plates. It's a "way too much crap at work thing for me to remember everything" kind of thing. I'll try this time, but the boss called tonight to say he's bringing beer for an after work thing tomorrow, so be warned that I might forget the details. LOL (We've had a very busy week.)

    Anyway, so if anyone is wondering what to bring, disposable bowls and plastic spoons is a good idea.
