tRCMB Weight Loss Challenge 2012

  • Just a note for guys on here to drink soda/ pop. You are doing a huge disservice to yourself. There are many options that exist today. I don't crave soda but I do drink tea. My favorite brand is Steaz. Zero calories and minimal caffeine. Rasberry and lemon are bomb.
If you drink pop and quit that habit and work out you will basically lose 10% of your body weight

  • I am in. But I have had the Flu over the past week and already down from 235 to 225. I am guessing I will gain it back by the beginning of the contest though. Goal is 200 (and to quit smoking).

Yeah I ran this morning and had a Coke for lunch. 20:00 on the treadmill is equal to a liter of Coke. Damn I wish diet pop/zero didn't taste like rat poison.

  • One thing I highly recommend for people who drink a lot of pop is caffeine water. It's just water and caffeine with nothing else added. Has a tiny bit of aftertaste but it's a great alternative to other unhealthy options and helped me stay awake at work while quitting pop. In Michigan, Meijer generally carries it (Water Joe). Just a suggestion for any pop addicts like myself.

Give me your weight on 1/4/12, you will probably weigh more thencheers

I was thinking the contest goes for 6 months at least, 3 months isn't enough to sustain long term success.

I am thinking if this more for motivation and not a competition.

  • I'll jump in this as well. I only have about 10 more pounds I want to lose. Lost 40 so far. Went from ~200 down to 160 (I'm only 5'9" grumble fuck you genetics). Back up to around 165 after falling off a bit during the final stretch of the semester into exam week. My goal was/is 150-155. Been stuck between 160-165 for a few months now and could use some extra motivation. Looking to build muscle though so idk how many pounds I will lose on the scale, my goal is more to reduce %body fat.

  • I'm in. At this time last year, I weighed 325 pounds, and in the past year I've gotten it down to 275. My target weight is somewhere in the 225-235 area. I'm 26 years old, and I figure that I've only realistically got about 2-3 good years left of being able to play the field with attractive girls. Can't let those years go to waste by being obese. I'm giving myself until May 1st to be at 230, and think it can happen.

  • You have way more than 2 or 3 years left to claim your prize. Go to any dating site and look at the girls age, and what age range she is looking for. Without fail, the girl is almost always not looking for anyone younger than her, and cool with dating someone about 7-8 years older than her. I have been checking this out for some time now.

    BTW, how tall are you?

  • 6'0 210#, shooting for 185# or 12% bodyfat, whichever comes first. Alcohol will be shunned with the exception of the party that would follow a job offer, diet soda down to 2 cans/week, and plenty of running to follow.

I'm 6'3. I'm not worried about finding a decent wife at any point, but I only see myself being able to have random sexual encounters with classy/attractive girls for a couple more years.

  • I have never found a way to get off pop for an extended period of time. In college I pretty much did. Lots of stairs, was on the track & field team, lifted all the time. That was 10 years ago though.

For those who have, what made it stick?

  • I was addicted to coffee and quit it cold turkey, you really have to want it almost like quitting smoking.

I wouldn't suggest cold turkey though, try switching to tea or something and ween yourself. Just know you are going to feel a lot better and healthier after. If you were drinking caffeinated, be ready for about 2 weeks of mild headaches.

I found that taking a ton of daily vitamins really helped the entire process(multi, C, fish oil, echinacea, etc.). Good luck and drink lots of water.
