Since when does Florida State have "good academics"? Also interesting that Dantonio hasn't scheduled an in-home. I'm sure he'll do a Glenville sweep down there though since we've got Sturdivant, Clark, and Walker on our list.

It was more that the one program, criminal justice, is good. Glenview kids are a strange lot; they play up their recruitinment and 99% of the time end up at tOSU.

tOSU has 21 schollies, 4 OL already (walker) and 3 DEs (Sturdivant). The consensus is that if tOSU offers Sturdivant, he goes there, otherwise he's Green. Walker has been a WTF recruitment from day 1, and now that he's Rivals #1 OG, it's gotten even more convoluted.

We have room for a talent like Walker, but I don't like getting jerked around. Still, it's the game you play for the elite players.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

I may be a bit cynical but it seems that a mention of good academics has become a required part of every interview about official trips. Sometimes I think the comment is actually about the academic support for the athletes.

I don't see how their behavior is strange. They're 18 year olds being treated like kings for a brief period of their life. If a kid just commits to tOSU, he doesn't get all of the attention, and trappings that go along with big time football recruitment.

This kid can go all over the country....Get a free trip to California in the middle of winter in Ohio. There are worse things in the world...

  • We need to break into Ohio. Coach D has been recruiting pretty well from all Big Ten states except for Ohio. We always get the kids that OSU hasn't offered. There has to be one kid who would say sparty over the bucks. Especially if he'll get more PT at MSU.

This kid sounds like an OSU lock, with USC as darkhorse. I hope I'm wrong.

  • Break into Ohio? Look at how many Ohio kids there are on the roster. You're dreaming if you think MSU is going to be able to go into Ohio and have their pick.

True, MD usually misses in Ohio.

  • Chris Borland Wisky 3 star recruit- don't think he was in the top 60 in Ohio rival rankings that year. 2- star by Scout and unranked in Ohio.

He was Big Ten Defensive Freshman of the year 2009

Luke Kuechly 3 star recruit by rivals led the nation in tackles for BC and first team all American

Sorry dont mean to hijack the thread here, but there are a lot of great players who are not ranked as high in rivals or scout or for that matter the OSU staffs evaluatons. Coach D just needs to evaluate better than Tressel and rivals/scout is really just for show -matters more to pull the player who performs in the system and on the field. Top player in Ohio last yr by rivals was Justin turner. Where is he now???

    I trust in Coach D

Hopefully Walker starts the ball rolling.

  • Coach D has been doing fine in OHIO, and has been for some time now.

    Greg Jones
    Jerel Worthy
    LeVeon Bell

& that was the first three that came to my head, i could go on for a while

I believe Javon was recruited by JLS if I am not mistaken.

"Breaking into" Ohio =/= stealing kids from Ohio State. We've already broken into Ohio. We've gotten highly-touted guys like Schofner, Ringer and Klatt because Ohio State didn't have room for them. We've also got scores of lower-rated Ohio kids who didn't get OSU offers.

We'll never steal an Ohio kid from Ohio State. Elite national programs can do that, but we can't.

  • The state of Ohio averages about 77 players per year that sign with BCS schools and Michigan averages about 30 per year. OSU will continue to sign about 75% of the top 15 in Ohio and then pick up another 8-10 of the top players around the country. MSU needs to be the top backup school for talent out of Ohio, take about 60 % of top kids from in-state & continue to pick up key recruits from around the country.

  • Walker announces tonight at 7:30PM. Yet he stated it's between USC and Ohio State. Thread will be locked soon. Sorry, no link. Comes from a premium article, and no idea if I can relay that info.

  • Oh well. None of us really expected him to go green. Best of luck to him. It's down to Cooper and Wright now.
