'12 OH QB Tyler O'Connor is a Spartan! (Signed MSU LOI)

  • I don't see how he would pick NW over MSU unless the kid really wants the education factor. A good sign for who will get him is look at if the coaches are still recruiting other QB's and you have your answer. Has MSU or NW been in contact with anymore QB's in the last couple of weeks?

    The MSU staff is still staying in contact with IL, QB Wes Lunt.

    Also with Andy Appleby, who I'm pretty sure will be at camp, and Tyler Cameron, who has expressed interest in MSU.

    Everything I've read points to pushing Lunt for a commitment, because the Staff has made it clear they will take one Quarterback in the class. I think O'Connor ends up a Spartan, but because of Tyler's timeframe, Sparty wanted to let Lunt know the situation.

    I agree partially, and don't want to go negative on a good poster. However, let's put cool aid aside. We're talking about one school who has never fallen out of the top 20 in attendance vs. Another who has trouble putting 50K in their stadium while situated in our nations 3rd most populous city. Just sayin, phenomenal school, great coach, agreed, a school where football is maybe the 3rd most important thing though.

    it is really pathetic....I hate these 'open letters' to recruits. Like that will influence anyone. Do they feel the coaches and the player/family arent doing their research or understanding every point?

    I would laugh if a recruit ever said his deciding point was reading an open letter on an MSU forum.right

    Largely because one of the spartan mag writers said he thinks O'Connor will choose the Wildcats. It's just his opinion, but he's been watching this type of recruitment unfold for a long, long time.

  • Losing O Conner to NW would be bad because Lunts recruitment has taken off recently. MSU would pretty much have to start over with QB recruiting if they lose these two.

    O'Connor cant go wrong with either of his two schools. Losing him would suck but NW is an attractive option. MSU has other options for QBs and if we dont end up getting him. Although we would like a QB in this class, we dont have to have one. We would have to get 2 in the following class

    The MSU staff definitely wants a QB in this class. They won't wait for 2013 to sign a QB. They will sign a QB in the 2012 class.

    I agree with those points as well skip. I have little doubt that Tyler will choose MSU. Just hard for me to get upset over losing a recruit to Fitz, rather it be him than almost any other B1G program.

    O'Connor's parents are back from vacation and he will be announcing sometime this week. Anyone have a better timeline than that? I just heard anytime through the week.

  • I've always had a soft spot for Northwestern and secretly cheer for them when they aren't facing MSU I have a TON of respect for Pat Fitzgerald as a person and as a coach if Tyler decided to pick them I won't be TOO upset.

    Being called a sunshine blower is not insulting to me and I'm proud to be one.

  • Lima to East Lansing is a 3 hour drive. Lima to Evanston is a 5 hour drive. Tyler, I'm sure your parents would appreciate a shorter drive on gamedays! Just kidding. Good luck to the kid in making his decision, as it's the biggest decision he's probably had to make in his young life.

    I hope he chooses to be part of something special that Dantonio is building.
