So are reports that he was going to go to the MSU camp false? Or was he planning on that and he just moved his decision date up?
Just a hunch, but I would think if he still plans on coming to camp that he is going to commit to us.

If he's planning to camp with us regardless then I think that's a pretty big sign he's going to commit to us.

When you lose out on a recruiting war to NU or Stanford its isn't because of MSU or the staff. Its that degree from a very selective, small private school that puts you in a position to have a social/business contact network for after football that's more valuable than the $180K-$200K for the room/board/tuition they are giving you to play football for them.

To be honest I have no clue about his recruiting anymore other than what has been posted here. At the beginning I was very optimistic about him coming to MSU, but that was before I even knew that NU was a true contender. I always thought that he liked us and um and since Michigan hasn't offered yet we were the leaders.
I always thought that if he decided to go to camps that it might become harder to land him. For example, if he went to the scUM camp and got offered I wonder how much interest he would show to them.

I'm starting to see a trend in MSU's QB recruiting... Tyler will learn from the QB's in front of him a lot easier because of their similar mechanics and playing styles. Great situation for both MSU and O'Conner. I'm just pleased as punch that we got a solid QB recruit and now there will be no serious push or pressure to get Lunt, Kelly, or anyone else. I could see us offering Blackburn after camps. He would be a very cool project QB to have behind the stable we'll have now.

I don't see us taking another QB in this class, especially since it's so small.

No I didn't, and Foles did end up transferring. We got lucky with Nichol because we were able to convert him to WR. We'll have Maxwell, Cook, and O'Connor on the roster in 2012. That's almost exactly what we were at last year (Cousins, Maxwell, Boisture). I don't think we'll take 2 in this class because one of them will probably end up transferring anyway. As it is, I think the spot will be a battle between O'Connor and Cook after Maxwell leaves.

I agree, which is why it's better not to spend 2 scholarships on a QB now since we're set for a few years.
2011 - Cousins (Maxwell/Badonavic) while Cook-RS
2012 - Maxwell (Cook) while O'Connor-RS
2013 - Maxwell (Cook/O'Connor) while 2013 QB-RS
Starting in 2014 it's basically a battle between Cook, O'Connor, and the 2013 QB. I think at least one of them will end up transferring. It's still good to see the QB depth we'll have starting in 2013 though.
