Monty is a very good receiver. His numbers are hurt a little by the fact Moeller still likes to pound the ball and the GCL is all about smash mouth football. This kid has the size, speed, and hands to a big time player. Got the chance to see him play 5 times last year.

Standout junior receiver from Cincy was in East Lansing over the weekend for a visit and it appears the Green and White are in solid shape early on ..

Between him, ESE and Burbridge I think we'd be set at WRs for this class. We'll still have Mumphrey, Fowler, Lippett, and Caesar. I can't see us taking a class that's almost 25% receivers.

He was at the OSU NFTC along with some other of our prospects like Dwayne Stanford and Adolphus Washington.
Here's the part about Madaris:
Another four-star in attendance was Monty Madaris out of Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller. Madaris, though not quite as big as Stanford, is a more polished receiver that also possesses a goood combination of size and athleticism. Madaris catches the ball naturally away from his body, gets in and out of his routes with ease and looks the part of one of the top receivers in Ohio.
Also mentions Mahone as a standout RB but no text on him, and says Shane Morris ('13 QB) put together strong performances back to back at this and the Elite 11 camp.

OSU NFTC: Offensive standouts

Despite the talent on display on the defensive side of the ball at the OSU Nike Camp, Dwayne Stanford and several other offensive players earned the nod as top performers.

Sam Webb: Cincinnati Moeller wideout Monty Madaris is another kid with a Michigan State offer. He doesn't have an Ohio State offer yet, but the Buckeyes have shown interest. How do the Spartans stack up in this battle?
Dave Berk: I think the Spartans look great with Monty Madaris. I think he will make a return trip up (to East Lansing) this summer and I would not be surprised if he made a commitment. There are several (favorable) things there. One is Mark Dantonio's time at the University of Cincinnati. One of the coaches at Monty's high school is a former player under Dantonio at Cincinnati. Doug Rosfeld is the O-line coach at Moeller. His last year at Cincinnati was with Dantonio and he left with a great impression of Dantonio. I think Monty Madaris and the Spartans are a great fit and I think the fact that he will get back up there this summer puts them possibly in the driver's seat

Got a good feeling about Madaris right now. A strong showing by BJ/K-mart/Nichol/Fowler/any of our WRs would help reinforce the notion that MSU is a great school to come to.
I do like that most of our WRs are 6'1 or taller. Gives them the frame to be excellent run-blockers and to go over the middle. No problem with a couple sub 6'0 speedsters either, but it's nice to have prototypical NFL-sized WRs coming through the program regularly. Madaris definitely fits in with our offensive philosophy.
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.
