  • Oh but we do have speedsters in the secondary, Trae Waynes, R J Williamson, kid from Canada forgot to spell his name, etc ..They need to be on the field more

Arjen Colquhoun from Canada. Ran a 4.39 forty when he attended MSU's summer camp.

This would be great if we could pick him up. This is the kind of recruit we need to be landing. Big, physical, from Ohio and rated pretty high. Dont get me wrong I like Tompkins and Kings but I would much rather had Mahone and Madaris for the same above stated reasons. 5'10 180lb kids like Kings and Tompkins seem like a dime a dozen. Rich Rod took a bunch of them when he was at scUM. Madaris and Mahone have ready to go Big 10 size.

The difference is that we actually do have bigger receivers and our offense has a competent quarterback.

Kerrick and Caesar are both 6'2+ and bigger bodied targets. Sims is the shortest of them at 5'9. Kings should be about 5'11 when he plays. Burbridge is about 6'1 as well and runs a 4'4. We have bigger bodied guys in there. Not to mention some great size at TE.

Tompkins is a RB btw....so him being short isn't really a big deal.

He'd be a good get, we've wanted him for a while and I'd be happy with him now. I'm definitely no expert on how this stuff plays out, but am I the only one who thinks the Arnett transfer has no bearing on this recruitment? Monty will be 2 years behind Arnett if he red shirts.

    agree

  • We looked pretty damn fast on defense this year. Our receivers have always been good route runners and just as of lately we have gotten a lot of really fast guys. I like the mix we've got size wise. Monty will fit in well.

We have some serious speed back there.

Dennard is probably a 4.5 guy....I think Lewis might be around there or a bit faster. Adams and Robinson both seemed like 4.4 guys. Drummond and Jones are both plenty fast.

Trae Waynes and Colquhoun have both run sub 4.4s and Williamson is pretty damn fast too.

On top of that, Denicos Allen and Chris Norman are pretty fast too, they can close the edges fast.

  • Everyone has fast corners. You need that to stop the big plays. What makes defenses fast is the speed of the LBs and DEs and we have that in spades. Denicos Allen has run a 4.5, Chris Norman a 4.6, Lawrence Thomas a sub 4.6. Rush and Drone have great speed for DEs, and William Gholston is still running sideline to sideline at 280lbs, no idea what he still runs, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's still sub 4.7. There are guys on our front 7 who can beat most RBs to the edge every play, that's team speed and Dantonio and company are developing it consistently. Dantonio wants great athletes in his front 7.

  • Rivals has Madaris as "high" for MSU, I don't know how long it's been like that but I thought I'd pass the info.

He's gotta be coming here. Where else would he go?? Come on down and be a part of something special, Monty. You're going to have a great shot to start day one!

Honestly, how much better would it look to have Arnett and Madaris in the two-deep next season than what we originally had thought??

I'm sure that post was just a response to Spartyfever's post about Madaris' interest level being high on rivals.

Moeller senior WR Monty Madaris considering UC and Michigan State | The Recruiting Trail

Moeller senior WR Monty Madaris is considering UC and Michigan State as his finalists, according to Moeller coach John Rodenberg. Madaris is expected to make his college decision by next weekend, this blog reported on Thursday. Madaris, a Division I first-team all-state selection, was the Associated Press Southwest District offensive player of the year this [...]

I get that but I think you figure out how to make the Norfleet thing work. He is pretty talented.

Norfleet is very small and not especially fast. I know he has some good things on his resume, but I can't help but think his lack of size and speed made him less desirable to our staff. I know it did to me. Not the same situation with Madaris.

Hey Dillon, thanks for dropping by.
Us true MSU people want Monty to make the decision that's best for him, whenever that may be. We hope that he chooses MSU, but it is completely acceptable if he doesn't.
Please ignore some of the posters who are mad at Monty or blaming him, they don't represent the MSU community.

    Thanks!

Doing an IP check, DillonPanthers IP address is also registered to "victory4msu25" and is located in Lansing. So for now, I'm banning DillonPanthers. If DillonPanthers has a problem with this, please PM me to discuss.

Just in case Dillon is real and somehow posting from the Lansing area, this post (edited a bit) will remain as an appropriate way to respond to a recruit's family member if they post here.

  • Good news, this kid is a great athlete. His numbers sure seem to me like better than a 3 Star. Sign him up, 6-2, 190 lb WRs who run a 4.4 and have a 33" vertical don't grow on trees.
