The latest on Monty sounds very positive for the green and white. thumbsup

    Can you elaborate at all?

  • I honestly don't think that OSU is even recruiting him.

I would like to see him stay in the BIG 10 with you guys

I don't think they are either, which is strange. I would much rather have Madaris than Stanford.

  • Basically that MSU is still in the picture. Monty is talking with coaches and might visit.

Standford is the BFF of Adolphus Washington. Stanford is rated higher according to a lot of recruiters.

    Madaris has better hands.

  • Pretty shocked if we still have a shot at him.

  • THis one has seemed like it has always been OSU if they offered, or one of MSU/FSU if they didn't. I think we get him if we are taking another WR.

Wouldn't that leave MSU with one spot left? one of the Safeties seems likely but I'd like to get a DT in this class.

Being called a sunshine blower is not insulting to me and I'm proud to be one.

More and more people are starting to realize that Stanford is overrated. He will keep his star value because those ratings are based on potential at the next level, and a 6'4" WR definitely has that allure. However, he is not on the same level as Madaris.

  • OSU took a wr that performed great at their camp (Roger Lewis) and they had the legacy commit in Frank Epitropoulos, so MM seemed to be holding out for the OSU offer that is unlikely to come.

Cannot blame the kid for holding out for an offer from his states premier school- just like any kid in michigan yearns for that MSU offer to come and when it doesn't has to go elsewhere.

Hopefully O'Connor helps sway him to the good guys!

It could also help that his QB this year at Moeller (Ricky Davis) LOVES MSU, and just may be our QB commit for next year. I'm not saying that Madaris would make a commit based on a hypothetical situation, but you would have to imagine that both him and his QB talking about both playing at MSU would at least add a little sweetener.

We have a DT in the class, just happens to be a transfer from Vandy by the name of James Kittredge.

Yep some positives weighing in for us. There is an argument that he could be the best wideout in OH this year- grab him and we get possibly the two best wideouts in OH and MI. Have to like that!

How good is this Ricky Davis guy supposed to be? Will he compete to be one of the top QBs in the midwest?

He had a couple MAC offers before his Jr. year even started, which is usually a pretty good sign.I'm not a huge fan of his size, being only 6'2, but he is young and could still grow. I really like that Brogan Roback kid though. Boy can sling it.

Also, we have Thomas in JUCO that is rooming with Cardale Jones. He has stated that he knows where he is going. All signs point to OSU. That makes 3 WR in the class. If we are holding a spot open for anyone, it will be Stanford. The potential is there.

Positives and negatives for both he and Madaris. Madaris is likely the 5th guy for 4 spots.

  • To any UM fans that feel like discussing MSU recruiting, please take it to the 2012 recruiting thread. This thread is for Madaris. If you can't play nice, you won't be posting on here. This is not the Blue Board; this is the MSU home board. Please keep that in mind when posting, and understand that UM fans do not have the same latitude on here that they do on the main board. Keep it civil, or take it elsewhere.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

  • Sorry to hijack this thread with talk about a DT this is for Madaris and hopefully he is a Spartan soon.

Ricky Davis isn't even the starting QB for Moeller, he is 2nd string behind another Junior. Madaris missed his first game of the season with a hamstring injury. In his first game back he had 2 receptions for 107 yrds and 2 tds and in his 2nd game back(tonight) he had 3 receptions for 64 yrds and 2 tds. Moeller hasn't thrown the ball much in the 2nd half of the games he's been in as they've won the last two games 68 - 7 and 63 - 12. He has 2 rushes for -3 yards in those two games.

Would love to have this kid on the same field as Burbridge. Two studs.

  • It seems like after the confusion that went on after signing AB we've tried to make some ground back up on Monty. There are quite a few out there that think he's really the best receiver in Ohio. We've kind of fallen from his top choice to hanging around in the top 3, right? Does anyone have anything new on his recruitment?

    Skip1856

  • Nothing new on his recruitment but last week against then Nationally ranked St. Xavier(GCL) he had about 4 or 5 receptions for No Tds and about 90 yards... his worst game of the season but still a solid game. Tonight Moeller played 5-0(0-0 league) League(GCL rated toughest league in nation at the beginning of the season) foe La Salle and Monty Madaris had 8 catches for 3tds and right around 200 yrds. Moeller looks primed to go deep in the Ohio Playoffs this year and he could be looking to have well over 1000yrds

  • So what are the chances at MSU landing Madaris? Is it still a situation where we are the favorite if he doesn't get an OSU offer?

OSU is still slow playing Madaris.
OSU is holding what looks like their last WR spot for a package deal with Dwayne Stanford and Adolphus Washington.
MSU is pretty strong with Madaris but Neb., FL St., Cinci., and UM are also in the mix.
If OSU were to make a late offer, then that's where he'll go.
