Why are we just now offering a guy like this? He's a big time recruit, and we don't offer till mid Oct?

Spartans Close In On Landing Visit From 5-Star DT Toby Johnson

Michigan State assistant Ted Gill visited a 5-star defensive lineman last week and the Spartans may be closing in on landing a visit from the JUCO star.

MSU and Coach Gill have made up some ground with Johnson. Getting him in for a OV would be a major plus.
The knee injury may have some schools backing off of him. The early prognosis is that he could be ready to participate in Fall practice but it sometimes takes big men longer to recover from knee surgery. He could red-shirt and still have 2 years of eligibility.
