These are teenagers, and he is an out of state one to boot. He doesn't have the deep seated hatred built up yet. A local kid may, but even then you see kids go Michigan or MSU even though they grew up fans of the opposite. Nick Hill for MSU, Marios Ojemudia and Csont'e York for Michigan.

I agree. Some kids just latch on to a far-away school for no other reason than maybe they liked some games they saw, liked some players that came from that school, liked UM's Ronald McDonald unis last year :) , etc. We've got some really strong, loyal players from Florida and GA. Benenoch looks like he might be the biggest MSU fan ever, and he's from Texas and has never been here. Imagine how he'll be after he gets on campus. It works for both schools.
I do find it humorous if Mattison sells these kids by comparing them to guys he coached in the NFL. Mattison is a good coach -- no debating that. But the Ravens D was legendary for many years before he got there, was good for the short time he was there, and was good after he left. I would think its more effective to point to players a coach develops in college, who then has success in the League. Ngata? Good job, Oregon.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

And before visiting Ohio he was claiming Penn State was his favorite growing up, but he visited after another DT committed and didn't get an offer. So his "favorites" are more like flavors of the week -- the next offer he get may become his new favorite, but there's really no telling where he'll end up.

Apparently he's now got a top two according to a Wiltfong tweet. Can't read it because it's linked to wolverine and virginia 247 sites. If one week we're "his favorite team in the big ten" and says "I love their defense" and 10 days later he's got a top two of scUM and Virginia, wow. I wonder which Raven, that he didn't draft or develop, he reminds Mattison of.

Doesn't he mean a history project, as in an ancient history project? That rivalry is only currently relevant due to its historical significance. It won't be playing a role in determining the big ten champ for a while. MSU/Wisconsin is currently a much more relevant rivalry in B1G football.

Yea skip, I just don't understand the inability to land a big time tackle. And I am pretty tired of hearing from people, oh well look at all the young guys we have in the system. I agree we have a lot of bodies, but that doesn't mean it's not a need to land a stud Big boy on the line every year. Same goes with OT in my opinion, need a headliner each year. With Narduzzi and the type of swarming, penetrating defense that we play, it makes me scratch my head a lot when we are behind a schoool like Virginia for a kid like this. He's obviously willing to go to school in the state of michigan, just not here?
