Roushar is now OC, not OL coach. Staten is the OL coach.

But I agree, our OL coaching has been fairly solid considering the huge run of injuries. The only problem is that they seem to pick a year to be great at run blocking (like 2010) or pass blocking (2011) and not both.

Yeah, it's always better except when the incoming offers aren't as good, and the spot at the school originally offering fills up. So maybe on always.

Individual seasons are a way overblown factor in recruiting. What Wisconsin does this season is irrelevant. The fact of the matter is, Wisky has sent multiple OL to the NFL in the first round in the past few years. That credibility will not be undone by one poor season - and it's highly unlikely they'll have a bad season at all. Wisky's OL will not suddenly suck horribly next year, and their reputation as perhaps THE top OL development program will not be gone by February no matter what happens. In a few years, if it has gone down hill, then Wisky may not mean much to an OL recruit, but for the class of 2013 it is a heavyweight offer.

You could be right. On the otherhand, I wouldn't assume that losing half the staff only means one season of problems for UW.

Think about what your opinion of UW's/Bielema's future would ha be to be like, for you to decide it was better to go to Pitt where coaches are leaving or being blown out on a pretty regular basis. Not only that, but you decided to leave the BT for the BLeast, and go to a school that gets PSU's sloppy seconds on a regular basis, from a school that didn't have instate competition?! I don't know about you but I see half the staff losing confidence in BB and blowin' outta town.

I didn't assume that Wisky's OL program will continue as it has. My point is that right now their reputation speaks for itself, and I don't think an OL recruit is going to have a "wait-and-see" approach over that. The 1st round draft picks are far more influential to a 2013 recruit's mind than any uncertainty with the OL coaches, if they even pay that any mind at all. Right now, Wisky will get the benefit of the doubt because of what they've done. The 2013 recruits will be signed and on campus before we see any hypothetical degradation of their OL development.

I'd say it was too early to tell yet. I wait to rank recruiting classes by their results.

I read all the time on this board how we are wide receiver u and most of those guys were through different coaching. How do we think that doesn't apply to Wisconsin regarding their o line?

All I'm saying is UW lost half their staff to a school that's been a revolving door for coaches, in a bush league. To me that says the coaches who left for Pitt had serious reservations about UW, they felt like they were leaving for better positions or they would have stayed put. They were in a position to see what was going on at UW, and they took off. It was a vote of no-confidence. I'll take their word for it and say I expect problems for UW.
