    Nice.

Most 2013 offers are to the big OTs.

6-7/320 as a Junior? Keep up the good work coaching staff, lets grab these big young men who want to be Spartans!

Norman is enjoying the recruiting process right now, being contacted by several schools. When all is said and done, he will eventually be a Spartan.

Hopefully he gets lots of attention.

2013 Cadillac (Mich.) High OT Riley Norman isnt ready to make any decisions yet, but the 4-star MSU target sure liked what he saw Saturday at Spartan Stadium.

  • He's my guess for first 2013 commit... He'd be a great get and at a much needed position.

Same, I just hope he does it soon and that others fallow suit, but obviously he should take his time and be sure, but when hes ready we will obviously welcome him with open arms.

  • So I just noticed that on Riley's 247 profile, it lists MSU as his "Favorite" school in bold red, and everyone else is listed as "cool". Im not sure how long its been like that, but it makes me wonder why he hasnt committed.

It is still very early in the process. I haven't been following recruiting for very long, but I think it is rare for us to get an commit this early. Texas who is known to get early commits doesn't even have one yet.

Also it is not hard to be listed as a "favorite" when we are his only offer. I'm guessing/hoping he picks in the end, but it is still very early.

It's not unheard of for HS juniors to begin committing to schools once offered. Current Spartan Max Bullough committed during the fall of his Jr year IIRC. Obviously, that had a lot to do with family ties, but we also weren't his only offer. Even Steve Elmer, from the 2013 class, has already pledged to ND.

For some kids, they grow up rooting for a school and jump on the offer right away. Others enjoy the ride a little bit, camp at different places, take visits and see where they end up.

I think it'll be a little bit before MSU sees some 2013 commits. But the staff seems to be in good position with guys like Norman and Reschke. 2013 should be another good class IMO.

I know it is not unheard of, that is why I mentioned Texas.

Ultimately I think Norman is one of our first 5 commits for the 2013. I guess I shouldn't bee too surprised since it's early, but I'm kind of surprised that he doesn't have more offers. Is he from a small school that is not heavily recruited? I'm just glad we were his first offer.

Right. Let me rephrase then, I would say it's becoming a little more common with recruiting being more and more visible.

  • I think it's safe to say that Norman is a Spartan fan and he is a heavy lean to us. That is probably why other schools haven't bothered. He's obviously a big time recruit and wears his 4*'s well... at a massive 300lbs +
I can't wait to see him in the trenches!
He is one helluva of a OT prospect. cheers

Hope this kid joins the spartans soon sparty so we can start to get our O line recruiting anchored down

  • Would really like this commit to happen. UM just had possibly the best recruiting day ever. We need to get some momentum going.

Florida also had 6 commitments yesterday. Don't give them more credit than they deserve.

  • Would be nice to have Norman attend Junior Day next weekend.

If we were able to secure Norman & Shelton soon, it would likely be the strongest start to a Dantonio recruiting class since landing LT early in the 2010 process.

UM got 1/3 of their class filled with Plan A guys. That's as good a day as it gets.

Would be nice if Norman and some of our other Plan A guys would pull the trigger and get some momentum going. Reschke did it. Would like to see some others follow suit.

Why does UM's recruiting momentum always translate over to us? They are taking 23-25 kids a class right now while we're at 16-17 for this year.

After Junior Day we'll probably have a few more commits too.
