  • I like have wrestlers on the team because they often show great athleticism. Kid's tape looks pretty good and he's only a sophmore in HS. Big guy for only being 15/16.

We're the first Big Ten offer he has, other offers are from UCF (CUSA) and Syracuse and UConn (Big East).
Coaches must be sold on him to offer so early.

  • Spartans Chasing 4-Star N.J. DT

Spartan Tailgate caught up with Sicklerville (N.J.) Timber Creek DT Greg Webb, a junior who holds nine scholarship offers and plans to visit MSU in the near future.

  • Kid looks like a stud, I saw that according to 247 MSU is warm and all other schools are listed as "cool" and Narduzzi is his main recruiter. Hopefully he is liking what he sees, I would love a stud DT in the 2013 class

  • Is it safe to say that Webb is now one of the "must gets" for next year??

    Was that really worth typing?

DT is a must for the 2013 class and I was wondering if anyone knew who will be our plan A guys?

Obviously it is early, but Webb's film makes it seem like he has to be at the top of the list.

Yes and it can't be typed enough IMO.

The "must get" type thinking makes no practical sense and results in all these embarrassing panic attack posts when MSU doesn't get a recruit.

Webb would be a fantastic Spartan. He is not however a "must get".

Then he is a guy we would all like to have at a position that is a "must get"

Webb to check out Big Ten schools

Sicklerville (N.J.) Timber Creek defensive tackle Greg Webb has some down time while recovering from a torn ACL this offseason, and hell check out four Big Ten schools soon.

  • Webb is visiting o$u with Eli Woodard who already committed to them. gotta believe that will give them an edge

  • I won't link it because I know you guys hate him, but Sam Webb has an article about Webb with quotes from his father that are very positive for MSU. It is in the News.

Can you link it? Who cares about the people that whine about anything and everything that is not completely 100% pro-MSU (unless you just don't want to be downvoted but I figured you didn't mind since being a Michigan fan posting on here will get you that regardless of the content).

  • No favorites have emerged in this recruitment to date, but there are aspects of many of Webb's suitors that have begun to stand out. Michigan State, for example, has to its credit the distinction of being among the first programs to recruit the talented youngster. The Spartans began courting him as a sophomore and was the third program to offer him last fall. As a result he has been able to form a particularly strong bond with Spartan defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi.

"Coach Narduzzi was probably one of the first coaches to notice Greg," the elder Webb said. "There's just something — I like Michigan State. He saw something in Greg before anybody else did and that's something that means a lot to me as a parent."

That foresight on the part of the Green and White is now reaping dividends, as Webb is planning to visit East Lansing in mid-April to get a closer look at the program. Should the rest of the Spartan family make as profound an impression as Narduzzi has, Michigan State will likely find itself in especially good standing.

"(Coach Narduzzi) is a good guy," said Webb Jr. "I have a good feeling about (Michigan State). I've always liked them. They repeated another 11-2 season and they've been good for the last four years now — really good. They're also hard-nosed football players like players should be."

"It'll come down to how comfortable he feels," said Mr. Webb. "Looking at both defenses, I like them. I saw (Jerel) Worthy at the combine and I liked him. He's a bigger guy than Greg but he plays the same style. He attacks up front. That's the main thing — both schools attack. I don't like linemen that just sit back and wait. I want him to be in an attacking defense. So when it comes to both of those schools, they get an edge in that category. I want him to be comfortable. That's going to come down to the coaching staff and how he feels. Can you see yourself being a Wolverine or a Spartan? That's going to be the main thing."

Michigan, MSU earn high praise from attacking DT Greg Webb | The Detroit News | detroitnews.com

The SEC is not the only league whose tradition in the trenches entices All-American prospects. In the case of four-star Erial (N.J.) Timber Creek High defensive tackle Greg Webb, the Big Ten could wind up being the league of choice.

  • His dad seems pretty knowledgeable guy. Glad to see he's doing his homework and they're coming up to EL.

MSU has been on this guy for a long time and hopefully that pays off. I like Narduzzi being on him - I think he's our best recruiter.

  • Does he already have an iPAD? If so, I have to like our chances

    BlondHairMinger

  • He and his dad sound like very reasonable, mature people that are looking out for what is best for Greg. It's great to see his dad feeling the love from MSU. Obviously we would love to have such a highly rated talent but what makes it better is when someone commits for the right reasons. Greg and his dad both appear to be looking at family values, style of defense, and comfort with the staff. Those all have MSU stamped all over it and I'm sure if he can make it to campus he'll find himself surrounded by a team of players who feel the same.

  • Let's hope his pops make the visit with him to see East Lansing, this kid should be number one on the big board right now if you ask me. I feel a lot of other DT prospects that we have offered are looking elsewhere. Here is to the next Jerel Worthy with this kid.

    Jizzy2323

  • hoo man, look at that offer list. He would be one of the biggest recruits of the Dantonio era. I feel like we are definitely in a good spot with this kid. I know that the coaches, team, etc will impress when he visits and I think our D next season will really hammer it home for him, if he waits that long.

Sadly, this is the $$$ quote:

"First and foremost you can't miss the great history of the school," Webb Sr. stated. "You definitely look at their (defensive line play). I'm always going to look back at Mike Martin. I watched No. 68 all last year. That definitely (reflects) Coach Hoke's attention to detail, Coach (Greg) Mattison's long, vast history, and then you have Coach (Jerry) Montgomery. How much better can you get than a good D-line at a school like that with three great D-line coaches all on the same staff? You can't beat that."

Someone should send him the game film, where that same D-Line gets owned by our spartandawgs on the offensive line.

Honestly, I wouldn't put too much into the article. Look at the source for one. And second, he is just finding something good to say about each school. This is hardly a two-horse race as the article tries to portray.

recruiting is ever changing. you just never know. as long as a kid does his homework and looks at every school and in the end ends up at michigan then it doesnt bother me. everyone has to make the best decision for them. when they start feeding kids BS lines and pressure them into commitments, then it bothers me. I think Webb will end up making the best decision for him and not get pressured into anything so i wish him the best of luck wherever he ends up
