'13 OH CB Darian Hicks (MSU Verbal)

  • I can certainly understand the kid wanting and holding out for the home state Buckeyes, but holding out for scuM is a tad annoying.

    I have always said you can build a championship team from the guys OSU doesn't offer- just have to out evaluate them on the kids.

    Hicks seems to want his dream school OSU and if it doesn't come then he wants his dream schools arch enemy???

    Hopefully kid starts to see the Green guys as the best option.

  • Right now, Hoke is riding the wave. We need to punch him in the mouth this year and next. It is key and I think it will happen. Trust in this staff, it has taken us this far.

    We have beaten Mattison's D's many times before and will again. This too shall pass.

    We will get our share. We will have at least one top drafted DB this year and next, kids will take notice. Coach D's recruits are just now hitting the draft boards. The young men will take note.

    Well said. Maybe after five straight against u of m regardless of their coaching staff, Hicks will reconsider who has the best to offer in terms of a football program

    Nobody should be turned off by Hicks wanting an offer from OSU and UofM. Recruiting is a two way street. Some kids are plan b kids for certain schools and some schools are plan b for certain kids. Some kids are rubbed the wrong way with the slow play while others subconsciously desire the girl that plays hard to get.

    Lots of kids on MSUs football team right now wanted that OSU offer. Instead they went to MSU, won more games, best represented the big ten last season, and now bleed green.

    This. You are spot on Nitro, +1. Some kids are enamored with being slow played. It happens every year. Certain prospects enjoy receiving offers immediately, while others prefer to be "courted" by a school over a period of time.

    With that said, I hope Hicks realizes that coach D and the staff have no doubt that he can be an incredible talent at MSU. They have made it very clear how badly they want Darian, and in return I hope he respects the staff's loyalty and trust.

  • Further proof that these recruiting sites are pure guesswork. how can this kid be the #27 CB in the nation and #20 overall in OH on 247, but Rivals has him as the 62nd best CB and 48th in the state?!?! That's a HUGE difference. More proof of Rivals' incompetence and lack of a presence in the Midwest? It's bizarre to see such divergent rankings on this kid from the various sites. He's all over the place.

    That said, I love what I see from him and can't wait to hear he's committed. Looks like a Spartan all the way to me!

    I can't speak for that guy, but I was hoping Hicks would pick up a Michigan offer late in the process if Michigan ends up missing on some of the other CBs they are after. Doesn't look like that will be the case. Great pickup for MSU if/when Hicks commits.

    Calm down hero, I would like to see Hicks as a Wolverine and it doesn't look that will happen, nothing backhanded about that. Hicks reminds me of Johnny Adams, a very good college CB.
