  • MSU jumps to full red "favorite" status. Awesome! Looks like a solid offer list too (so far).

  • Damion Terry and Delton are teammates. Anyone know if they are visiting together?

  • Is he for sure gonna be a safety? I thought Powell was the only safety we were taking.

  • First off, Powell is listed as an athlete. Second, Delton I believe is being recruited as an H Back/ OLB type player. He and Terry are coming to EL next thursday for a visit!!

  • Spartan in PA,

How good is the competition that Williams and Terry play against?

Erie Cathedral Prep is a AAA school in football. AAA is the second largest of 4 classes in PA. Not much coverage of Erie schools in Pittsburgh

I think it's very telling that he was offered right after Ramesh came off the board. I think you're right and he definitely is being looked at for the same position(s) ie H back and OLB.

No matter because Delton Williams looks to be a little faster to me. It's hard to tell because Ramesh's footage on his video is so bad but It looks like Williams is actually the better athelte. Thats what we've built the program on are guys that pass the eye test athletically who missed a 4th star because of technique, lack of exposure, etc.

  • Big new offer for Williams

Erie (Pa.) Cathedral Prep athlete Delton Williams received good news at the end of last week in the form of a big offer from his home state.

  • I was over on the PSU blue board talking with a few of their faithfull about this kid, great group of posters by the way. No flame action at all, bunch of good dudes. They seem to like him quite a bit, but had concerns about the level of competition in the Eerie area. However, they did mention that they thought he was dominant against that lower level and thought that both of our staffs had an excellent eye when it comes to kids like this. Overall, the consensus was that he'd be a tough pull given his afinity for MSU. Good news.
In addition to that, our staff will be at that school on the 13th or 14th watching Damionn Terry throw so we'll get in front of him again prior to a PSU visit if I'm not mistaken.

  • MSU assistant coaches Dave Warner and Mark Staten are planning to visit Terry and Williams HS on April 16th to watch Terry throw and Williams is expected to be one of his targets.
Note : Their HS is in PA's AAAA HS div. which is the 2nd largest in PA HS football with AAAAA being the highest. I don't think there is any real ? about the level of competition they face.

Thanks for the update. Right after I'd read that two other posters chimed in and refuted that claim and mentioned that the level of competition in the Eerie was actually pretty stout competition.

  • So we went from listed as favorite to warmer on his 247 profile, and PSU was upgraded from cool to warmer. Here's hoping that we can get his verbal.

It certainly seems like a two headed race for Williams.

One advantage we certainly hold is our strong interest in Terry. I don't think Terry is being recruited by PSU after they landed a high profile QB from VA (Hackenburg). I could be wrong, please correct me if I am.

    Nope, you're correct.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

You have a couple of extra As here. Quad A is the largest division in PIAA classification Cathedral Prep is a Triple AAA school. Northwest PA is District 10 and there are only 10 AAA schools in District 10. Looked at their schedule and they do play the one AAAA school in D-10 (McDowell which actually plays most games in Pittsburgh Area WPIAL) and they also play an Ohio school or two. Looks like they play as good a schedule as they can but clearly Erie is is off the beaten path for football in PA. Last season Cathedral Prep lost in the finals of D-10 which was effectively the first round of the state championship.

Note the Philadelphia public schools do not participate in PIAA football but most would be in a 5A class if they were to join.
