Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

  • Odd offer. Our skill positions are filling up quickly and now we offer another? Shouldn't we only be offering linemen at this point? How does this guy have an offer but not Dillard? Confusing.

P.S. That's not to knock this kid in any way. I'm more wondering about the staff and how they are determining who gets offered and who doesn't

  • Odd offer? What are you talking about man? He is a QB and is there any mention of him playing another position?

It just seems like odd timing. They already had 5 or so offers out to QBs. We're recruiting skill positions fine. We have a limited class in 2013 and we have not landed a single lineman yet, despite filling up our skillpositions pretty well already.

The timing just surprises me, that's all.

Yeah you really can't hang with Dantonio as far as football talent evaluation. He's one of the best in the country there. And if that's true then it's really not for us to call an offer odd. If it's a real offer, there is a legit reason for it.

Not denying that at all. I fully trust the staff.

    WavSpartan

  • I truly understand what you're saying about needing to fill up on linemen both ways. But if the staff offers a QB this early, they are plan A. We will have a smaller class for sure, but you know the coaches want a QB in every class, so I love this offer being thrown out there. I really want to get this kid becuase he is different than the type of QB we usually get in that he is a true dual threat, same as Alviti from Chicago, but this kid is much taller.

Four spots filled, zero QBs, but the staff should stop evaluating / offering QBs because they have zero lineman commits. Are you serious with that logic?

  • This kid has much more potential than Roback, he slings the ball on the move very well. It's quite obvious the staff is targeting a dual threat QB.

  • Less bickering, more talk about Terry.

The staff loves guys who project at different positions. Kid could be a TE, QB, LB, S.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

ND has an offer out to both too. Not that we give a rip about what ND's doing. Personally on film at least they both look good to me.

Upon further review of the video tape. I believe Terry isn't offered by ND. He was listed as one of their "targets" for the QB position. Alviti does have an ND offer.

Marquise Gray shredded us at Spartan Stadium this year.

I can get on board with this, especially the aspects of them being deceptively quick and the occasional dart throw that can catch a defense off guard.

He throws a nice accurate deep ball and as a runner I like his vision. He has just enough speed to rip off the occasion 20 or more yard run. I liked the video I watched.

  • Penn State Football Recruiting: Erie Quarterback Damion Terry on Nittany Lions Radar
by Ben Jones on February 23, 2012 6:00 AM

Penn State hosted nearly 50 recruits, including nine quarterbacks from five different states, on Saturday as part of a day-long event with some of the top recruits in the 2013 class.

While Ashburn, Va., Stone Bridge's Ryan Burns, and Fork Union, Va., Military Academy's Christian Hackenberg are currently the only quarterbacks with scholarship offers from Bill O’Brien and his staff, Pennsylvania native Damion Terry is still getting attention from Nittany Lion coaches.

“My visit went real well,” said Terry, the 6-foot-4, 210 pound dual-threat quarterback from Erie Cathedral Prep. “I like Coach O’Brien a lot and the direction he has Penn State going. He’s a really good coach.”

Terry threw for 1,450 yards and ran for another 314 yards in a spread option offense this past season but ran a pro-style offense as a sophomore. Erie Cathedral Prep lost in the first round of the PIAA AAA tournament in 2011 and finished with a 9-3 record.

Sounds promising, it would be great to have another Drew Stanton type athlete at QB on the roster, he is not a great athlete but he has enough athletic ability to keep a team honest like Stanton was able to.

I would disagree that he's not a great athlete. He moves pretty damn good for 6'4".
