  • Of the two QBs we were after (Alviti being the other), Damion was definitely the one I was hoping we'd land. A great day to be a Spartan.

MSU had offers out to more than 2 QB's.

MSU had cooled on Alviti even before he committed to NW.
Terry and Trubisky were the QB's that MSU was most interested in.

CBD - It's pretty apparent this kid is the real dead. Great size. Gives me a sense of RGIII. He was just telling Gruden on ESPN, that Baylor ran a pro-spread offense but just picked up the pace because so many colleges are constantly substituting d's. I don't know about anyone else but I'm smelling some Heisman hardware making its way to East Lansing. (Bell, Maxwell, Arnett, Terry, etc.) MD and staff are loading up on talent like we have never seen.

I really like Terry's game, but calling him for Heisman is ridiculous right now. There is a good chance that he only starts for one year.

Have you forgotten about Connor O'Connor?

  • biggrin Here is my analysis of Damion Terry :

QB Damion Terry (6'-4", 215 lbs.) - Has great size for the QB position and could still continue to grow taller since he is still only 16 or 17 years old. He is more of a pass 1st, run 2nd QB, not a pure dual threat QB. He is a good athlete and can escape from the pocket when pressured and make plays with his legs and has the speed to make big plays on the perimeter of the defense. He has a strong arm and is an over the top passer who seldom gets passes batted down at the line of scrimmage. He needs to work on his mechanics and footwork in the pocket since he relies on his arm strength right now to make plays but he has the tools to work with and will really benefit from college level coaching. Arm strength and speed are God given and good coaching will help him take advantage of those attributes. He will be red-shirted.

Note : When watching Damion's highlights you will get some glimpses of # 5, Delton Williams

  • Terry had a handful of verbal scholarship offers on his plate before choosing the Spartans, including Pitt, Boston College, Duke, Illinois and Rutgers. Programs like Georgia Tech, Iowa, Michigan, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, Vanderbilt, West Virginia and Wisconsin, among others, showed interest

  • Recruiting service question. He doesn't appear to have been evaluated by all services. Will they check him out now, game film, not highlight film, like CBD referenced?

  • Congrats, nice get. I was originally hoping he would come to us as an ATH/QB late but he's too good to be slow-balled.

  • Posted this in another thread but repost here:

He reminds me a little of Chris Relf from the other MSU in terms of frame and running style, but he looks to be a better passer. Great get. thumbsup

  • What an awesome read. Already referring to us as, well, "us" and then talking about what it takes to be a leader. Not to mention having such insight as thinking quarterbacks should commit early and show some leadership.

Awesome, awesome comments by him. I'm already impressed with Damion!

Very good to hear.. There's stiff competition at this E11 competition.. Stanford and UM's QB commits are also there. Would love to see Terry represent.

Cathedral Prep quarterback Terry commits to Michigan State
    By TOM REISENWEBER, Erie Times-News

Cathedral Prep's Damion Terry has decided his college future.

Terry, a star quarterback, verbally committed to Michigan State Monday afternoon, two weeks after meeting with head coach Mark Dantonio.

Michigan State has a policy to not accept commitments before the head coach meets with the recruit. Michigan State made an offer to Terry earlier this year and the junior set up a meeting with Dantonio two weeks ago.

"I went up with Damion and Delton (Williams) two weeks ago so they could meet with the coaches," Prep coach Mike Mischler said. "I think it is a good decision on his part. Michigan State is the right fit for him and there's no reason to wait around when you know where the right fit is. Their style fits his abilities and Damion is a very talented player.
