um has a Jr. Day coming up next weekend. There will be a lot of recruit arm twisting at that one as usual.
"Commit now while there is still a spot open for you at that position."
Though I don't think Marshall will commit to them next weekend. He learned a lesson @ o$u.

This coming weekend or the weekend of the 30th?

    Skip1856

  • Had heard it's this coming weekend.
There is no Feb. 30th, LOL.

    CoachedByDuffy

  • Yah it sounds like Drake may be there for the arm twisting event. Awesome.

According to their poster UMRSB from earlier in the week he could play earlier here. Yeah, as if there's a single athlete on their D. They can't even compliment anyone without throwing an insult.

They're blinded by stars. The names Joel Heath, Shilique Calhoun, and Demetrious Cooper don't mean anything to them. Even Marcus Rush doesn't impress them despite his on field production, because Scout rated him as a MAC level recruit.

But that's fine, they'll just continue to be surprised each year.

As for Marshall, he has an opportunity to play in the B1G's perennial powerhouse defense. Seems like an easy choice to me...

  • Southfield (MI) defensive end, Lawrence Marshall has been a frequent visitor on the campuses of Michigan and Michigan State this month. After visits to East Lansing and Ann Arbor in successive days a few weeks ago, he went on overnight visits to each campus in back to back weekends. The Spartans were up first last weekend, and the extended time in East Lansing gave Marshall the chance to reconnect with some old faces and get familiar with some new ones.“It was a great time up there,” he said. “I got a chance to talk to a whole lot of players and just had a great time up there. I talked to Jamal Lyles. I knew him before he went to college, so I know he was being real with me. He was telling me the ins and outs of MSU.”“I talked (new defensive line coach) Ron Burton. We had a great conversation. He is a good guy and a good coach. Getting a chance to talk to him and trying to get a feel for how he coaches was a good thing."For a brief moment Marshall thought he’d face a similar task when he visited Ann Arbor this weekend thanks to Jerry Montgomery’s departure. The Wolverines, however, quickly put that concern to rest.“I found that out (Friday),” said Marshall regarding Montgomery’s move to Oklahoma. “It really didn’t hurt Michigan’s chances. Coach Mattison would be the guy coaching me. I’d be working directly with him so (Montgomery leaving) was no loss. Coach Mattison I was with him the whole time. He said I’d be like Terrell Suggs as a rush guy coming off the edge.”A one on one with Brady Hoke, meetings with academic advisors, and tours were other visit highlights. When all of that was done he had the opportunity to spend time with the players. There was one in particular that he bonded with most.“I stayed with James Ross,” said Marshall. “I had heard of him, but I had never met him… so this was my first time meeting him. I had a good conversation with him. I had a lot of fun out there.”The talented youngster claims no favorites among his growing list of suitors, but the Wolverines have undoubtedly managed to increase his comfort level with the Maize & Blue.“It was all good,” Marshall said regarding the visit. “Everything stuck out. It was only my third time coming up to Michigan… I really didn’t get a chance to see everything the first couple of times. This time I really got to see everything. It really opened up my eyes.”

So the Southfield team is going to a 1-day camp at OSU this summer? Is this a common thing? Does anyone know if the "team" will go to a camp at MSU this summer also? Frustrating to see the team camping out of state....we gotta keep these boys in-state...

Southfield (Mich.) 2014 DE Lawrence Marshall also visiting Michigan State tonight

I'm not sure how many visitors there will be tonight, but from what I've been seeing, it seems like there will be a decent amount of in state talent there.

Most of us assumed he was a UM lean until his OSU commitment. Then he fell in love with MSU and was here nonstop for a few weeks and was back as recently as the Wisky hoops game last week but I believe he has been at UM a decent amount lately too. Trying to figure out where a 17 year old is going to spend the next 4 years is hard enough but throw a girl into the equation then you're talking rocket science.

Not sure about a general consensus, but Marshall has been showing alot of love for MSU recently. On this board, we only hope for the best. Marshall would look great in the G&W.

I think he is Jamal Lyles' little brother's best friend or something, so that bodes well for us.

Peer pressure can be more influential than parental pressure sometimes to 18 year olds, stupid but true. I doubt we're the "favorite" without that connection. If we even are the favorite.

I was sitting right behind the recruits and Brad Salem at the Wisky game, few kids I didn't know, but Lawrence Marshall was there and he seemed to really enjoy it. Defiantly looked like he was having the most fun out of the group. Coach D came over at half-time and he was wearing a MSU hoodie and he made sure he knew he looked good in it....I know, I know, cool story bro.

Thanks. Has he been back down to OSU since he de-committed?
