'14 MI WR Drake Harris (Michigan Verbal)

This would mean he would be skipping his senior year of basketball which I don't think would happen

He won't enroll early, but will he be allowed to sign an early LOI as a basketball recruit?

    Another question.

Since men's basketball has 12 scholarships and football has 85 would it be legal for Harris to sign an early basketball LOI and after he arrives get flipped to a football scholarship?

Considering based on what was quoted by Harris, one way to eliminate the mail/calls/texts/tweets from other coaches would be to get the early LOI signed next November.

Isn't there a rule that requires you to play in your scholarship sport first?

I believe there is a rule that your scholarship sport be football for any dual-sport athlete on the football team, which would coincide with Sean's statement above that Harris plans to commit in football and walk-on to the basketball team. This would also potentially explain you're thought that there was a rule requiring a player to play in their scholarship sport first. If a player did plan to play both basketball and football, and wanted to do it on a basketball scholarship, he might be eligible to do so once he has completed a full season on the basketball team. If this is the case, it would likely be applicable to several non-football sports.

Additionally, if you're thinking that they could just have him sign during the basketball signing period, then attend on a football scholarship per the above rule, that is a loophole that has been closed according to this website: http://www.informedathlete.com/national-letter-of-intent-reminders#

  • Guys, all "rumors" have to have a source. A recruiting site, Mlive article, anything. If you post a rumor without a source, it's going to be deleted, as well as the responses.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

  • Harris got a bump from a 94 to a 95 rating.

It's hard to imagine him not continuing to rise. He's couldn't dominate more than he does.

I think a couple of camp circuits will have him through the roof. MI HS footabll isn't the greatest competition, but if he goes out and starts dominating the best of OH/PA, etc., he should start pushing that 5-star status.

Will he go to camps though? I know a lot of committed players dont go to camps.

  • They will still go to camps that will continue their skill development, or get them more time with their future coaches. But correct, most will not do the "Camp Circuit" and combines etc that recruits do for exposure and rankings.

So I imagine he might talk to the coaches and be directed to go to SMSB and then maybe our elite prospect camp?

  • He's been starting to get his feet under him on the hardwood. Averaging 24.5 points the last 2 games.

  • I would be interested in some analysis how Drake Harris scores most of his points this season in basketball, dunks, layups, free throws, 2 pt jumpers and 3 point jumpers.

The kid can do it all. I've seen him play twice. He can get to the basket with ease and has great body control. Also has range and can hit the three. Needs to work on his midrange game.

In relationship to football, I'd say that the body control he shows on the ball court translates best.

Falling down is not failure. Staying down is. You are not finished if you lose. You are only finished if you quit.

  • Drake will also have the opportunity to play for Izzo. Are any of these other schools promising him time on the court?

It might be worth the while to see what these other schools are recruiting SG wise.

It's key to keep in mind these recruits can tell these coaches not to visit.

There are other D1 football players at GRC too. Tommy Doles comes to mind.
