    NW was initially looking at Watkins as a dual threat QB.
    NW will continue to recruit him as a WR/ATH.

    Well NW certainly knows how to utilize versatile athletes in their system. That being said, we still have a much stronger overall program than them.

    Given the fact that he's stated he wants to play WR in college NW landing a QB shouldn't hurt their chances of snagging him in the slot. The only thing stopping them from getting will be us.

  • Our biggest challenge from NW very well could be the academic aspect. A lot of kids give it lip service, but I think Watkins genuinely cares about academics.

    MSU is am outstanding institution, but Northwestern is one of the top in the country, and the class of the B1G academically.

    I would favor MSU regarding the combination of academics+football, but we'll have to see.

    An interesting note is that Northwestern will be wrapping up a pretty spectacular lakeside facility, whole MSU is breaking ground on a great stadium expansion this spring. Certainly an exciting time for both programs.

    NW is a great school but there are some programs at MSU that are very very good (for example their nuclear phsyics is actually the best and ranked higher than MIT last year).

    Depends on what he's interested in. Also, as a student athlete, they have to consider the demands of the program and what they means for their bandwidth for schoolwork.

    That said he's not coming in for a while, but still nobody has established themselves. Chances are that someone will by 2014, but that's true for any school. If you're good enough, you will play. End of story.

    Yeah drake has a 97 rating and Watkins is a 93 rating. If we find a WR with a 95 rating it's over.

    From what I have heard his dad is not all about playing time, but instead he can see the time Dariean arrives on campus any WR on Wisconsin with any production will be gone. So the opportunity to see the field will be much easier at Wisconsin. But that is all the quote does not seem like a big deal he is still very high on MSU.
