Being called a sunshine blower is not insulting to me and I'm proud to be one.

  • I just hope his middle name rhymes with "turk"... cause that will be a fun name to say.

    Nitro Biscuits

  • Does anyone know if there is any JR Film available? I have seen his Sophomore tape, and it looks good, but have been unable to locate anything else.

The truck stick he laid on an opponent in the SO film was dirty.

  • These were posted in the RCMB thread. The first one shows a lot more running, the second passing.

He looks very good, Big arm, can throw on the run, pretty quick release despite holding the ball too low and he is a tough runner. Based on his stats and video, he runs quite a bit which is probably why he holds the ball where he does.

    Offered by Northwestern

Coach D and Coach Fitzgerald like the same style QB's these days. Tyler O'Connor chose msu over northwestern, msu offered Matt Alviti last year who eventually signed w northwestern. Today northwestern offered Kizer as well as Durkin, so it looks like well be after the same prospects once again. Both great coaches can target good QB talent if you ask me. I think it also speaks to the fact that our staff is targeting more dual threat QB's these days as well.

Indeed. The Northwestern offers say three things: good character and academics, athleticism, and enough accuracy to run the "dink and dunk" that Northwestern has implemented so successfully.

Northwestern offering definitely says that these are bright young men would good character...

This really feels like a qb class that has our coaches in an almost no lose situation given the talent that's interested in the program and our staff. So many different guys that could commit that have huge upside. Some that we likely haven't even heard of as well too are on the board somewhere. Not that a highly rated qb is the end all be all. Captain Kirk is a testament to that but the sparkly stars are always cute to flaunt to the doubters.

Those last two sentences are gold.

Highly rated..(players)..are not the end all be all...but the sparkly stars are always cute to flaunt at the doubters.

It does seem like our prospects are good for this QB class. I'm really excited about the potential for 2014 praywoot

Edit: I like his 40 time too. Don't need to be a 4.4 guy to make them respect the run. Drew Stanton sure as hell didn't run a 4.4 but he made the most of what he had.

HS 40 times are exaggerated and wildly inaccurate anyway. Unless you are at a serious combine your not going to have a string trigger or laser timed reading to insure accuracy. They're hand timed by coaches. You'll notice at the HS level, every RB from the south east runs a 4.4. At the NFL combine they all run in the 4.5's for the most part.

I don't know about that. Even if they are hand timed, a reported 4.68 doesn't mean he really has 5.2 speed. It's a point of reference more than anything. It's probably not 100% accurate, but it's not just made up.

Trent Richardson, a 5-star coming out of high school, actually ran a 4.5.

What I meant by my post was that it at least indicates that he can make things happen with his feet. Would you disagree with that?

I think we're making the same point. He doesn't seem slow to me at all. I'm just suggesting 40 times mean far too much as it is. Unless the guy is a corner or receiver its not that important to me. A guy with a reported 4.68 is more likely to be accurate than the obligatory 4.4 claims. If the times come from a Nike SPARQ camp they're pretty dialed. For example all we heard from I'm fans was that Derrick green was a legit 4.4 and he ran a 4.6 at a Nike camp.
Sorry for the digression. Yeeaaahhh Durkin.

  • PS, players with "fancy stars" matter unless our coaches quit offering them. Until then I'm assuming those 4 and 5 star players our coaches offer early are the top targets for a reason.
