Buried at the depth chart at Alabama....considering transferring here? Our LB depth is pretty solid, would be a strange decision.
Plus Calloway was just kicked off of Bama's squad following an arrest. Given that LB isn't a position of need, I don't see why Dantonio would accept a transfer from him.
Edit: Unless they would be bringing him in as a RB. That would leave me a little disconcerted about the quality of our depth there.

Am I missing something here? Isn't he one of the 4 Bama players that were arrested in the whole stolen debit card for snacks incident?
Arrested twice last year. Just doesn't sound like the kid is the best decision maker in the world, and definitely doesn't seem to run with the right crowd. What exactly is the news with him in regards to MSU?
3 of the kids were arrested for their involvement in 2 robberies and then using stolen debit card and student card to make purchases... Calloway was only involved in the use of aforementioned debit card / student card, vending machine purchases...
Obviously that is not to be taken lightly, but hardly in the same ball park as the other 3 players that were arrested..
It will be interesting to see what is going on with STATE and Calloway and until we hear more, i wish Mr. Calloway the best, as he has made quite a few mistakes and hopefully he can overcome those hurdles...
Dantonio did stick with Dion Sims after the laptop theft thing. Different circumstances but it is an example of MSU giving a player a second chance.
Yeah I thought the same thing..but I also feel like in that situation, Sims was "his" kid. Just seems like this kid has a ton of baggage, but should he decide to look at MSU, I do trust Coach D.
It does say on his profile he was working at RB last fall.
If this is a transfer situation, then this kid is either very talented or Dantonio is genuinely concerned about our RB position.
laconophilia is everywhere...
If he wants to come to MSU, i say we should take him
laying in the weeds
This could be a scenario where Saban likes the kid and believes he should get a chance, but feels he's forced to oust him because of the situation. So he called his old assistant head coach Dantonio and said "I got this kid here who made a huge mistake. I can't keep him around because of the media and politics of the situation, but I believe he just needs another chance and a stable environment".
EDIT: Lots and lots of speculation here though... if it's too much, delete away.

Wonder if he'd consider being a walk-on until he can earn a scholarship?
That seems very likely. I wouldn't have a problem with it, assuming the facts are as their reported here. (First offense, he was less involved than the other three) Let him walk-on his transfer year and earn a second chance with good behavior.
People are remembering he'd have to sit a year, right? So this is very unlikely to be about any weakness we have at running back. Hard to believe the staff is prematurely quaking in our boots about the 2014 RB depth chart when they've got three guys coming in they presumably like to add to what we've already got. Seems like it's probably something more like Nitro's scenario, given that the kid's recruiting profile doesn't even suggest any contact with MSU.

I'm skeptical Saban (or any other BCS coach) is going to throw a bone to another coach. If Saban really thinks this kid can benefit from a change of scenery, I find it more likely he'd push him to mid-major or DII school. It's not often you see kids with off field issues jump from one BCS program to another.
I completely disagree. MSU isn't a threat to Alabama whatsoever. Our goals are completely different, and we don't play each other for several years. Similar to how Izzo sent Allen and Lucious to Iowa State, I would not be surprised if Saban gave Dantonio a heads up about this kid.
I don't think football coaches are that nice. Can you give me an example of this happening previously?
You don't generally (key word) see high level kids transfer from one BCS program to another.
I meant a kid having off field issues transferring. Kids recently that come to mind are Isaiah Crowell, Michael Dyer, Janoris Jenkins and even Cam Newton (who went JUCO before heading to Auburn).
Regardless, agree to disagree.
Are you talking just football? Because I have at least 2 examples in bball...
Yes, just football.
Wilson wasn't a transfer, he was a free agent
Can't really complain about that rule, MSU benefited from Wood last year.
