So, you don't know for sure if Roushar is pushing or not. You are just guessing based upon past history. You made it sound as though it was fact he was not pushing, and yet you really have no idea. Aren't you the one who constantly reminds posters not to ass-u-me anything?
Because the staff wants him at DT. They only want to take on DE and that would be Cooper.
For those that don't have VIP....
from SpartanMBA2009: @core6athletes Can Spartan fans expect good news from Demetrius Cooper soon?
and @core6athletes replied: @SpartanMBA2009 Looking that way

This actually describes every single one of his posts.
The way some of you lap it up is really sad.
The only true part of his post is that he has probably met DR. Met. As in, once. That is also the extent of his connection to the rest of the staff as well.
We've got depth. We've got numbers.
Purdue has offered as well.
I think coaches generally see him as extremely raw, but with a ton of potential. Perhaps some schools want to take players that are not as high risk/high reward.
he hadn't played much and came a bit out of nowhere to be the MVP of the Sound Mind, Sound Body. He went to MSU's camp and they instantly offered. He then camped at Notre Dame and they instantly offered. Purdue offered without him camping, i think - probably saw MSU and Notre Dame's offer and thought that's good enough for them. Guys that get instant offers from Notre Dame and MSU are plan A's, in my book. Plus, the fact that he made Dennis Finley and David Dawson look SILLY at Sound Mind, Sound Body helps.
I've been on this board for quite a while and CBD is usually right. What position are you in to criticize? Calling into question "every single one of his posts" is unfair if you ask me.
CBD has kind of an agenda against Roushar. I mean, so do I, but I don't make it sound like I'm in his office every day.
Who cares? As many times as Roushar has struck out, and I do agree with you, this would be a score for the good guys. We all know it won't be a huge ratings or rankings boost because the kid is a little under the radar but his camp performances say it all. At the Schuman's NUC in Springfield he measured a clean 6'5 and 1/2 which is exactly what we need, but he only weighed 203lbs. That is the only, and I mean the only reason this kid isn't a 4 star and we sniffed him out and it looks like we'll land him. He's got all the intangibles and more importantly, he's got time on his side. From the start of his Senior year of HS till he plays his first down at State he's got a little over 2 years. Plenty of time to put good weight on.
I've been as rough on Roushar as anyone, but if he pulls it off, it's step towards rebuilding his credibility.
With his size it probably means he will need 2 years of development before he is ready to contribute. So he redshirts and ends up 3rd string in his 2nd year then year 3 you have something that is ready make serious contributions. Kelly might seem him as an OLB in their 3-4 system which size might not be as big an issue for them. Other schools(OSU and UM) may be looking for quicker contributers at the DE spots and may have the luxury of being a little more picky. Sometimes that is what makes the difference between a 3 and 4 star is how soon they are expected to contribute. Most 4 stars will be major contributers my year 2(Bullough, Burkland, Lewis, Gholston from the 2010 class) and come in with ready made physical size or that is the expectation. 3 stars can redshirt and be expected to be factors in year 3(most of our 2011 class) or maybe not until year 4 in the 5 year plan. Considering our low attrition rate the past 2 or 3 years we can take a chance on Cooper and bring him along. There are quite a few DEs in the pipeline ahead of him.
UM maybe but that is misinformed for osu. They have literally an embarrassment of riches at the DE spot. Pittman Spence and Washington are all great prospects and young too.

That's precisely why it said it's a step and not "he's back everyone". Cliffton Garrett would be another step, and a big one for that cycle. Incidentally, click on his thread. Scout qoute says we lead.
Things are developing quickly between Chicago (Ill.) Julian defensive end Demetrius Cooper and the Spartans.
You are absolutely clueless little nino !
I've talked to Roushar, Coach D and other members of the MSU staff many times since I receive Press Passes to MSU games thru Scout.com.
Roushar is a nice enough guy but he just doesn't have the dynamic personality needed to be a top recruiter like Pat Narduzzi, Harlon Barnett, and Mark Staten.
I've known Dan Enos for a long time and Dan really puts Roushar to shame as a recruiter.
You ass/u/me too much mayonaise.
There's a big difference between Roushar pushing a recruit to commit and Pat Narduzzi pushing a recruit to commit.
One big advantage in MSU's recruitment of Cooper is when he attended MSU's summer camp he met coach D and really liked him.
Cooper also liked working with coach Gill and coach Narduzzi at that camp.
Cooper was also able to spend some time with coach Narduzzi at the SMSB camp.
i apologize if this is a stupid question, but why would Roushar be the main recruiter for a DE anyway? isn't that Nardawg and Barnett's territory?
Second Q: say he commits to MSU soon when still unranked...even if he is a four star talent do you think he ever gets the ranking? My impression is that if he committed to ND he would, but if its MSU he'll be in the 86-88 range. You have to love his size and being able to redshirt him and let him learn behind Rush, Heath, Thomas, etc. would put him in position to be a major contributer as a RS Soph. I'm pretty excited about this one - seems to be a textbook Dantonio "find."
Personally, I could care less if he"s unranked or ranked a five star, if he commits to State, he"d be our diamond in the rough....I"m ok with that
It goes by region, not position. Roushar recruits the chicago area.
Just ignorant. Plain and simple.
Go somewhere else attention whore
i don't give a rats ass in the end either...just curious what those in the know think will happen when he is ranked in the next updates. he's clearly rocketed up the charts. frankly, i'm fine with him staying unranked until signing day.
And the fact that CBD's is right much more often than he's wrong. Either way, IMO it's always interesting to hear his take on a recruit. I've noticed that articles tend to exaggerate a school's chance to get a recruit, but CBD usually makes it clear if there's a lean toward one school.
On topic though, I could SWEAR Cooper had a 24/7 rating and was a 91 or 92 or something. Why there's no rating now is confusing. Or I could be wrong.
He never had a rating
Listed as an unofficial visit for the Boise game, and everyone but us is "cool". Any chance he commits before he visits again on Aug 31st?
I think he said he wants his mom to see the campus and he'll likely commit at that point. It was in a VIP article, can't remember which one.
He'll probably blow up once his season starts. He definitely has the frame to hold another 60 pounds, and his athleticism is going to get noticed. Shit, even if he can't put on the weight for some reason he'd still be brutal as a DPR on 3rd down.
