SEC sells for itself. Plus living in a talent rich area helps a lot. And even when bama sucked they still got a lot more TV exposure than MSU ever did.

I'd say that was Bama/SEC sell, and didn't have to do w/ Saban.

Looks like Peko on his way for an official this weekend! Hope to lock him up, can't hurt that Fonoti is not playing and will probably be showing him around and will most likely be discussing redshirting so the two can play together next season.
Junior college defensive tackle will take his official visit to Michigan State this weekend ...
kinda shocked that we didnt lock him up this weekend
MSU has a solid lead for Kyle right now.
Utah is the darkhorse in this race because of the Mormon connection.
I would be totally shocked if he doesn't commit to MSU in the end.
Is this the kind of kid who could come in and make an immediate impact? Starter? Would he take White's spot next year?
Kyle would be an immediate contributor on the interior DL rotation next season but not necessarily a starter.
He is planning to be an early enrollee in Jan. 2013 at whatever school he chooses. That would allow him to be involved in the Winter conditioning program and participate in Spring practice which would give him a real leg up going into Fall practice.
I think another advantage he'll have is his weight. We're losing some big bodies this year in ARW and Hoover and while Reynolds will be back, they other returnees aren't "huge" interior lineman. If Peko is 300 lbs now, as he's listed, I think it's reasonable he could put on at least another 10 lbs before next season. This would give MSU at least two big bodies in Reynolds and Peko to eat some space.
I REALLY want this kid. Our defensive tackles have been average-ish this year. Kittredge did have a good game Saturday I thought, but ARW will be graduating and Hoover is oft-injured/decent when he is healthy. Another DT that could play right away would make me feel a lot better.
I would say our run defense is spectacular. The DT's we have are not the best pass rushers but they'll get better as the season carries on. It would be nice to pick up Peko because we could avoid potential drop offs in the two deep next year. Plus he might be a star in our system. Either way the competition will be high next spring and fall.

Is there any news at all on his recruitment? Seemed like it was moving along and all of a sudden nothing for weeks.
I agree. He was going to visit at the end of the season and then moved it up by two months and then things went cold again.
He is working hard during the season (school, practice, games). Once his season ends, look for his recruitment to pick up and get rolling.

For those interested, Peko's remaining schedule is can be found at: http://www.cerritosfalcons.com/sports/fball/2012-13/schedule
Cerritos College is currently 4-5 (so I doubt playoffs are in the picture) and has 1 remaining game coming up on Saturday, 11/10, @7pm against Moorpark.
laconophilia is everywhere...
Then we should be able to get this guy locked up very soon if he is still a top priority which I asume he is.
Visiting Nebraska this weekend
I think he's visiting Nebraska coming up, anyone know when?
Ranked an 86.
MSU offer to 4-star 96 rated juco DT Marquel Combs and subsequent announcement as a finalist for Combs has to have gotten Peko's attention right before his Nebraska visit.
Edit:changed from AFTER visit to BEFORE visit.

Does anyone know how the Nebraska visit went? Are we still favorites?
It's this weekend
Looks like Peko enjoyed his trip to Nebraska immensely. He said they are now "tied" with us at the top.
