Congrats on a good pickup.
Excellent! Welcome to the MSU family!
I really love how involved Terry is in twittering potential recruits and new commits. Kid is All In for the Spartans. Love it.
Hicks is the only DB we're taking. maybe a prototype SS....but otherwise the secondary is good to go.
I really think the staff will take a Bigger Safety If they can get a good one (EX. L.Robbins or D. Williams).
So are DB class would be CB D.Hicks S J.Powell and a good chance at one more Safety.
The only CB we are taking. They would like to add at least one more safety.
Forgot to say GREAT CHOICE HICKS! Really good pick-up.
Definitely a prototype SS. Cox, Powell and Williamson are all FS. Meyers could probably play a bit of both but a big thumper DB would be necessary once J. Jones and I. Lewis leave.
Agreed. I love that our future QB is already assuming a leadership role. I hope that he takes a lot of visits this fall and works the recruits at the games.
The Hicks commit is huge. He was one of Dantonio's top targets. Awesome news. Also means that we don't have to keep chasing DBs as much. Hopefully we can focus on recruiting the lines a bit more now.
Would Warfield fit that role? Haven't seen much of his tape

Congats to you guys, really nice pick up
Solomon Warfield doesn't have prototype SS size but plays S for his HS team.
He is tough in run support, an excellent tackler and a big time hitter.
Though MSU initially offered him as a CB, MSU may continue to recruit him as a SS.
Here is my analysis of Darian Hicks :
CB Darian Hicks (5'-11", 173 lbs.) - He was Coach D's # 1 priority recruit at the CB position for the 2013 class. He is an excellent athlete and is a starting WR for his HS team as well as starting @ CB. He is a dynamic KO and Punt returner for his HS team and has the speed to break long returns. He has excellent ball skills, both as a DB and as a WR. He has a fluid back pedal and flexible hips to turn and run step-for-step with WR's. He has the potential to be the type of lock down corner that all college teams covet. He could contribute as a True Fr.
Here are his Jr. highlights :
Sounds like you're pretty high on him as well. That's good news.
Seems like Dantonio was really high on Hicks and thinks he can be a big-time cornerback.
247 sports lists him at 5'10 but it looks like he's closer to 5'11/6'0.
I think he'll be very successful at MSU under a coaching staff that believes in him and knows how to develop DB's.
Yea, he's listed at 6'0 on Rivals. Figure he's probably a "true" 5'11. Looks like Johnny Adams 2.0. I talked to some guys on Bucknuts about him. Said he's raw, but has all the tools to be a top-level CB. They said if they didn't already have Cam Burrows and Eli Woodward that Hicks would have had an offer from tOSU.
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.
Solon's Darian Hicks was in and out of his team's game with an ankle injury, but still had a 53-yard touchdown reception.
“@dhicky695: I can't wait to be a Michigan State Spartan!”
I saw the one update posted above, but have any of you heard about his play this past season? Just seemed a bit quiet. TIA
Edit: Hicks had four INT's as a senior.
