QB Michael O'Connor tells me he is transferring to the IMG Academy school in Florida for next season.
I guess I'm confused as to what that means for his class status and how it affects us at this point.
I doubt it affects class status. It does mean that he's even deeper into $EC territory though, which doesn't bode well for recruiting.
I guess I was considering whether or not all of the credits will transfer and whether he'd have the ability to reclassify if that was the case. I agree however, not good having him in Florida.
The second transfer is a bit puzzling. What was looking like a terrific quarterback situation for 2014 now seems a bit more worrisome.

@SpartansOrDie Interesting. 2015 QB Michael O'Connor has reclassified to 2014. MSU is high on him, wonder what this does to 2014 QB recruiting.
"First Come, First Served", between O'Connor, Henderson and Kizer.
We're high on him but I haven't heard much out of him by way of interview, twitter, etc. that would lead any of us to believe we're in the pole position with this kid. What am I missing? Why do we keep acting like he's a lean or even a legitimate option? Yes, our staff had him number one on their board after our camp last spring, however, are we a named leader, in a top 3, a top 5?
What have you heard on him? I posted what I was told from people that I trust a great deal but my post was deleted.
Recent article from another site speaks about his transfer first to the school in Tennessee. He then goes on to talk about attending three games this fall at both auburn and Alabama. Furthermore it speaks to the fact that he's now transferred to the IMG academy in Florida where he's working with former Noles QB Chris Wienke. At no point naming schools of interest did he ever mention MSU, ever. There is no reason to believe we're a factor on any level here.
Yeah, I think it's all stemming from a couple early interviews he had where he said the MSU coaches/visit stuck out to him. Furthermore, one was a video interview and I think people actually hearing him talk about MSU that way caused some to overvalue his statements.
At this point, it would appear that either the staff doesn't feel they have a legit lead/shot with him, or something of the sort. Maybe the staff just feels we have better odds with Henderson and Kizer? Or, maybe the staff was recruiting O'Connor as a 2015 prospect, thus not recruiting him hard enough to stay in the race now that he's a 2014?
Who knows. I do hope we get back in touch with him, especially if Henderson elongates the process or elects to go elsewhere.
Exactly. It stems from his attendance at our QB camp last spring. He had a great time, a great performance, and he thought highly of our coaches. He gave a few complimentary interviews and since then we as a fan base seem to think it's some kind of "first come first served" scenario. He hasn't mentioned us in 6 months to my knowledge and I think everyone on here knows I spend too much time on these sites already. In this case, I would love to be proven wrong but I just don't think we're even in the conversation with this kid anymore and it's time to focus on a likely Kizer/Henderson dual.
Do you mean 'dual' or 'duel'? B/c I don't anticipate taking both unless Kizer was open to playing a different position, which would surprise me.
@TheTrueQB: Michigan, Michigan State, USF visiting tomorrow, gonna be a good day!!
When I was looking at some of the JJ McGrath tweets I saw this Michigan site linked with some pretty positive news from the 19th. Nice to see him mention us as a leader (and so recently) when talking to a Michigan site.
- On his top schools: Vanderbilt and Michigan State are his leaders.
