If you're not a MSU fan and your posting here, you're a troll. Get lost.
How many kids wearing SCum gear & making multiple visitis there,,,,,,,,,end up at MSU ??? Zero......We've got the advantage with this kid right now & have a great opportunity to get him. In the end ,,,,I believe we get him !
Your advantage is as equal as UMs and Norte Dame, which he is taking visits to all three. Also, he will probably take visits to Alabama, LSU, Oregon and USC when they offer as well over the next 6-9 months.

Allen Trieu said that McDowell's interest in Notre Dame has been greatly exaggerated - MSU and UM at the top, with OSU a fairly distant third.
I was just thinking, wasn't that just recently addresses in this very thread? That Notre Dame's influence does not appear to be what it seems? Specifically because of the defense they run.

Per Malik ... "I'm hearing from Michigan the same as I am from the other schools that have offered me. I'm hoping to make it up there for a game this year and want to get out to Notre Dame and Michigan State as well".
I suppose I can rephrase that - Trieu said that Notre Dame's place in Malik McDowell's interest is alot lower than many people make it out to be.
I have no idea what Malik thinks about anyone or anything (beyond what I've read). But I have to believe Trieu wouldn't make that statement unprompted unless he had it from the horse's mouth.
Per Malik: "I'm still planning on making my decision after my junior year is over. Some schools that I've been hearing from I'd like to get out to next summer and then make a decision after that". He talked about Alabama, LSU, Oregon and USC as potential visits. I'm assuming some other top programs will step forward as well. - http://www.michigantremendous.com/2012/08/malik-mcdowell-update.html
Once he gets offered by the above schools (which he will), his recruitment will run through the course. I have been telling my board, it is the schools that have not offered yet - but will - that worry me.

No doubt - I agreed with you two pages ago about that. I'm just pointing that Notre Dame doesn't seem to be in this as much as some think.
I will say, at least one school that has offered should worry as much as any of them ... ;)

Correct. Hearing from them and wanting to get to see them, which is understandable. He is a stud recruit hearing from some big names. But all of the "It's a UM/ND BATTLE!!1" and "NOTRE DAME ROUNDS OUT HIS TOP THREE!" is a far cry from "I want to get out to Notre Dame". I'm not saying you, I'm saying that others had been saying things like the above and I think that's what people are saying is exaggerated. They're a historically good program but I haven't seen anything that makes them truly special in his mind (yet).
These are quotes from Malik. Unless you are saying they are not true. These quotes support what Malik has said all along. He will wait to make a decision, and UM, MSU, and ND are in the mix. Whether ND is 'in the mix' I do not know. However, I suspect they are in the mix. And ... I have said I am more concerned with whoever else may offer him in the next 6-9 months, which supports Malik's comments of 'other' possible visits.
UM and MSU will have a tough road once other elite schools offer. Does he stay close to home? Unclear. But .. the incentive to leave for greener pastures will be there for him to consider.
which is why I am glad he has friends like William Gholston and Lawrence Thomas to talk to; They both had 60 BCS offers and were in a similiar situation to McDowell - I'm sure he'll find their advice invaluable ... ;)
I'll start getting excited about Malik next fall - or 1 year from now.
haha truthfully I'm in your boat. There are still issues I think MSU needs to resolve in 2013 recruiting before I'll worry about high school juniors.
Also, I still view McDowell as one hell of a long trek for MSU (and a race that they traditionally haven't won). So we'll see as it unfilds.
After all but saying we were at least a co-leader last week it appears um's writers are picking up on their arrogance and following suit. In an article from this morning they declined to list MSU when rattling off games he'll attend this fall. Comical. See below:
In addition to Michigan, McDowell also plans to attend games at Notre Dame and Ohio State this fall. The No. 23 overall prospect in the Top247 is fond of what Michigan has to offer both on and off the field.
their arrogance is something else. Theyre making fun of clifton Garrett because they havent offered him.
I have an MBA...Master at Being Amazing
McDowell had three tackles for loss during the first series alone, in yesterday's scrimmage... jebus
Makes you wonder if he is balancing making a real name for himself here like Gholston did (a top tier talent that came, performed, and now everyone loves him and he's a household name) versus just getting lost in the mix over at a school like UM (where people know every player's name, regardless of if they live up to their billing).
I got a feeling that McDowell will make a name for himself no matter where he goes. And he will have that opportunity. USC, Bama, LSU etc will all be calling on this kid and he is going to play as a frosh no matter where he goes. My guess is he goes somewhere where he feels he has a chance to get to a Nat title game.
Well, if his parents want to see him play then I guess it basically boils down to us and um, right??
Lets hope it doesnt come down to his parents. His parents are huge UM fans, and i mean huge. His dad has been leaning blue all the way. I hope he makes his own decision and goes green. But if his parents are any indication, it wont bode well for us. Dont forget, coaches and teammate's pressure
Second that. Additionally, he goes to Loyola, not Cass so we're not battling a head coach like Wilcher and I honestly think he wanted to commit to scUM late winter/early spring even though that sounds early and his Dad encouraged him to slow it down and give everyone a shot.
yeah, it sounds like McDowell's dad is one of the main reasons this recruitment slowed down and MSU came charging back into the mix. His dad went out of his way to personally drive Malik to East Lansing twice this summer - which is more than he visited Ann Arbor. I think the "UM fan" angle has been really overstated.
not to knock UM writers (ok, I enjoy knocking them) but every single kid born in this country grew up a UM fan, according to them. They need to be read with a grain of salt (and then a few shots of alcohol).
