The good news is that a breakthrough of sorts was made with Wilcher in regards to due process. We're not competing on a level playing field for the Cass Tech kids, but getting them on campus is a start. If we can grab Finley, maybe the gates crack open for the guys in green.
I forgot if this was the CTkid who transferred over from Farmington Hills Harrison.
Good to hear we are at least in the door w the kid visiting MSU.
After the draft this year.. Esp compared to what should be another thin UM Draft class, Wilcher is gonna have a tough time keeping kids from visiting.
no this isn't the FHH kid. That's Gary Hosey.
Deon needs to look at Jon's film and ask himself it he's not the kind of player he'd like to spend 3-4 years with playing lockdown defense.
and Shane Jones - and Riley Bullough. Dantonio said this week that Riley Bullough is special like his brother and is good enough to play LB for MSU in 2012; but MSU's depth at LB is so good in 2012, that he'll likely redshirt.
Riley will red-shirt to learn the nuances of playing LB at the next level.
Riley played S in HS so he brings pass coverage ability to the STAR LB position where he will compete for the 2-deeps in 2013.
Gonna have his work cut out for him considering the rave reviews that Darien Harris has gotten.
Riley's up close to 230; I have no doubt he could play SAM pretty easily. He looks like a SAM.
And another thread off topic
Per TOC and Rivals, we're his #1 school?
A look at the last week in MSU football recruiting. The Spartans hosted plenty of 2014 prospects over the weekend, as fall camp began.
Posted this in the 2014 thread, but he had very favorable reviews after being at MSU last week. He stated as of now MSU would be #1. Obviously good news, but it's still pretty early for 2014 and he likely hasn't taken very many visits.
The obvious response to this I that this CT player has yet to receive a um offer.
That's just what he are up against at Cass.

Didn't he say recently that he wants to go a different way from other CT guys? Specifically those who went to UM.
You're right - still definitely early and I'm sure he's inline for a bunch more offers too.
It will be important to be able to continually have him on campus this fall and winter for games/camps.

He's visited Michigan IIRC
It doesn't look like they've offered, so we're likely getting a big boost out of that right now. I'll believe we're in on this guy after they offer and he still says we're #1.
According to 247 hes visited Michigan Twice, Iowa, Wisconsin twice (unofficial and a camp), and camped at Pitt
This is from the DetNews article referenced in another thread. I think Trieu makes a great point, which is why MSU will be a strong contender for Deon:
Sam Webb: Where does Michigan State stand with Deon Drake?
AT: I always say you look at what the kid does and not what he says. After getting the offer he and both of his parents were on campus in East Lansing within a couple of days. To me that says he has serious interest. As a family they were able to sit down with Coach (Mark) Dantonio, (defensive coordinator Pat) Narduzzi, and the rest of the staff. They were also able to watch a practice. There is legitimate interest there, and I think they're looking really good for him right now.
Detroit (Mich.) Cass Tech 2014 Linebacker Deon Drake has an ordered top four early on in his recruitment.
Sounds good for us.
