Great kid and athlete, certainly a big 10 type player.
This kid is either # 1 or 2 in Ohio, up there with Jimmy Byrne. OSU must feel very good about national OL prospects because Byrne is looking enamored with ND and the Bucks still havent offered Richardson. Would love to see him in Green and White.
I'm pretty sure your going to get your wish. This dude just became THE get of the OL for us. I would just like to knock an OL down early. How about this dude, Brian Allen and maybe get an offer out there to Hayes. That's a pretty stout three IMHO.
Camped at tOSU and ND last summer so they could always enter the pic late. Last staff to visit him at school was Wisky in early December. Not sure why his recruitment hasn't sparked yet but it's certainly helping is. Staten needs to get on that.
Correct. He's maintained an end to his recruitment after wrestling season.
Back to the topic at hand...
Richardson says in his interview with Kurelic that MSU is currently looking at him as an interior lineman. He also said he expects his recruitment to pick up over the next couple weeks.
One of the top offensive linemen in the state of Ohio and a Spartan target, offensive lineman Nick Richardson, talks about Michigan State in this video interview.
laconophilia is everywhere...
Jandy, what did you think watching the interview? I didn't get the overwelming warm and fuzzy from the answers.
I didn't either, but it's still early. My gut reaction is that he will be similar to Trout, in that MSU could lead for him until/unless he gets an OSU offer. Fortunately, if that is the case, OSU doesn't appear likely to offer at this point.
To be fair, he didn't seem too excited about any of it...I have no idea, but I don't know how many times he has gotten interviewed with a camera in his face and try to answer questions. Other than OSU, does anybody know of another school he would be hoping to get a scholarship offer from?
One of the top offensive linemen in the state of Ohio and a Spartan target, Nick Richardson, will soon make a second visit to Michigan State.
Visiting UK today. Four UK predictions in the last 24 hours.
That would be a third Ohio player we lost to UK. I wouldn't consider it a huge threat just yet, but if we still aren't getting these quality players from Ohio in 2015 and beyond, we are toast as a program. Worthy, Bell, Rush, Cunningham...the list goes on and on. They are irreplaceable. And don't point out one year of moderate success in Illinois as an alternative. They don't have anywhere near the quality or depth of talent as Ohio on a year-to-year basis.
Giving up Ohio to get Illinois makes zero sense. We flat out dropped the ball in Ohio this year and allowed a good recruiter selling an awful program beat us for more than one recruit. Not to mention Charlie Strong hot on the trail of other guys in Ohio. Ohio is the lifeblood of this program.
MSU already has Durkin, Frey, and Copeland from Ohio and could add Burns, Ramsey, Bowers, and Osterhage. Cage and Furbush are also possibilities, but seem less likely. Yes, there have been big misses in West and Watkins, but landing 'only' 6-7 recruits from that state would hardly constitute dropping the ball. Anyways, sorry to derail this further and back to Richardson.
We don't need to win them all - Frey, Durkin and Copeland so far are nice but we need to get Cage and Bowers at a minimum.
Losing a DB, WR or RB here and there to UK, UL or some other program not named OSU, ND or UM isn't the end of the world but consistently losing out on linemen and QBs would be a bad sign. Barnett and Tressel have solid relationships in OH but Bollman is gonna be a drag as long as we have him on our staff.
It's also imperative that we get stronger in the DMV and NJ areas - lots of talent there will get much more exposure to B1G football and MSU football in particular soon.
Don't get me wrong, I see your point Hill. However, It's a trend that doesn't need to continue. Half of our class should come from there.
