Burton effect - we are hitting Virginia HARD. And for good reason - some damn good prospects out of there lately.
Live in the same city as this guy. Sign him up.
Some stats :
Stewart finished his junior season with 1,842 yards rushing, 323 receiving and 32 total touchdowns on offense. Defensively, he had 52 tackles, 10 interceptions (returned one for a touchdown) and returned three punts for scores.
I posted that same stat line in Tecmo Bowl in 88'....
To be honest though... Burton gives me wood... Yes, a Chub.. Great Hire!!
Yeah I can remember being excited when T SAMs hit Texas and all the offers went out.
@PhillyBoy_Marv: Looks like my top four are Virginia tech, WVU, UNC, and Michigan State
Says that he wants to play defense. I assume that he's being recruited as a CB and it looks like Burton's efforts are paying off. Next step is to actually get Nnadi, Kamara, and Stewart on campus. This hire is looking better and better every day.
Yeah, but Burton has only been on the job a couple of months and already seems to have as many or more commitments as Samuels has his entire time recruiting at MSU.

Still early in Burton's tenure at MSU but people have complained MSU has not had a closer well Burton is quickly looking like a closer.
Arlington (Va.) cornerback M.J. Stewart has narrowed his focus to 4 schools and hes the latest from The Opening.
Sounds like he's headed to UNC.
I would like to know how many DB's put into the NFL by each of the 4 schools he is considering in the last 5 years? And expected to in the next 2 years? Not that that is the only criteria that you evaluate a school by.
I couldn't speak to that. However, he did mention in the article that he was done with visits, but might take on to MSU, but it was up in the air and didn't sound very likely. This one is certainly not on Burton as the geography would suggest he needed a full cycle to build a relationship and get this kid here earlier. We didn't hire the guy until what, February? He's made an immediate impact within driving distance so let's see how he does next cycle when he's had a full 18 months to recruit the out of the footprint kids. As always, an onsite visit is an absolute must if they're a sought after player.
NFL Draft results the last 4 years. Just because I had nothing to do
School: Total taken in NFL Draft that Yr(DBs taken)

So what are the sets of numbers indicative of ?
total taken in the NFL draft( DBs taken in that draft)
Quick correction. In 2013 MSU had 3 players drafted, not 2 (bell, sims, gholston)
In 2012, msu did have 6 players drafted and Trenton Robinson was one them, so I'd say we had 1 DB drafted in 2012 as well
Sucks J5 didn't get drafted, if he did, msu would have had a DB drafted in each of the last 4 drafts
These #'s matter but recruits only pay attention to high round draft picks. When you have a player considered top 5 in the draft at their position, ESPN and all of the other media outlets talk about the players and their schools non-stop in the months leading up to the NFL draft. That type of exposure is gold.
When a player falls out of the top 3 rounds, they get zero exposure and recruits don't care.

Mj Stewart (@PhillyBoy_Marv) tweeted at 5:19 PM on Sun, Jul 07, 2013:
@ESmithJr_56 DM me. I need to talk to you about mich st
For the Twitter-illiterate, Stewart wants ESJ to shoot him a personal message. He was at The Opening, too, so it's possible that he connected with him and Allen. I don't think MSU has much of a real shot unless he visits soon, but this is definitely interesting. Shame he couldn't visit for camp, but it's not over yet.

I'll do my best here. Just saw an interesting Twitter exchange today between MJ Stewart, Vayante Copeland, and Brian Allen:
Stewart tweeted: "@Vayante wassup bro"
Copeland responded: "@PhillyBoy_Marv just getting out of practice heard that you like MSU"
Stewart: "@Vayante yeah bruh I do lol"
Copeland: "@PhillyBoy_Marv that's what's up when u plan on committing"
Stewart: "@Vayante soon!"
Brian Allen: "@PhillyBoy_Marv @Vayante wat week u going up one of us will probably b there"
Sounds like Stewart might go Green. Watch his film. Extremely dynamic athlete. Dantonio-type guy for sure.
