From everything I've read, LT is going to stick at LB and be a great one. I also have read that he'll in the middle, the guy has a chance to be an all time great at LB for MSU. All of that size and speed moving side line to side line could be unlike anything we've seen here since Percy Snow.
He's dropped to around 260 I believe.
That's still a whole lotta man

Now that the 2012 class has basically been closed out, here is some background on what was happening on the 2012 recruiting trail.
Se'Von Pittman really screwed MSU over by giving an early verbal to MSU (June) and then flipping to O$U 6 months later. The MSU staff didn't go as hard as they normally would after some other DE prospects like Winston and Jagne because they thought they were getting Pittman. Then the staff had to scramble at the end to try and get DE's to visit. The kid gloves are now off in recruiting the state of OH. O$U is the enemy and Coach D will take no prisoners, it's all out war against the Urban legend.
Demetrious Cox - He was a silent verbal to PSU back in Sept. but then the Alex Sandusky child abuse story broke and Cox backed away from the silent verbal. The MSU staff built a good relationship with him and now he's a Spartan. He showed good character and some class backing away from PSU.
Terrell Jackson - He was always a Plan B recruit. He was miffed when Coach D let him go home after his visit on Sun. without accepting his commit. He was told that the MSU staff would call him on Mon. night if he had a commitable offer from MSU. They never called him. Iowa pulled their offer to him and word is, so did ILL. Thus he signed with Pitt.
Jamichael Winston - MSU had to make a late push for him after Pittman flipped. The staff knew it was going to be difficult to get him to leave the South but they tried and were at least successful just getting him to visit.
Kyle Dodson - O$U is getting damaged goods. He had labrium surgery last Tues. and he may need another surgery on his shoulder. He was going to be red-shirted anyway regardless of any injury but now he may not even be able to practice while being red-shirted. Urban the pious had his hooks into Dodson and fed the kid the line of BS that if he came to O$U he would be playing for NC's. USC made a late run at him but he probably didn't want to be that far from home in the end.
David Fennell - After he returned home from visiting MSU, Ore., Ore. St., Wash. and Wash. St. all contacted him trying to get him to visit. Being from Calgaryy, Canada originally and only being in the USA for less than a year, he had no firm ties to the Pacific NW schools who basically ignored him until MSU offered him. I think MSU got a real steal with him.
Tyler O'Connor - Pat Fitzgerald wanted him very badly. Fitzgerald felt that Tyler was the type of athletic QB who could run his offense. Fitzgerald was really disappointed when Tyler chose MSU. Don't be surprised if Tyler is the QB starter as a Soph. He will give Connor Cook a real run for the starting QB position.
Monty Madaris - I'll fill everyone in on why his recruitment lasted so long later this afternoon in his thread.

Dogging Dodson for his injury is bush league. Anyone here would have been happy to have him.
My question is this with regard to Pittman effing us CBD: where do we go from here? I'm concerned about DT and DE right now....JUCO possibility? Your opinion please....................
Thanks for the update CBD. I do believe the Dodson update could have been worded better, as any school on his list would have been ecstatic to have him, but overall good info.
I wasn't dogging Dodson for his injury. Only giving out info.
MSU would have taken Dodson in a NY minute.
Sorry bud, but calling a recruit "damaged goods" isn't "giving out info," it's sour grapes. You usually give out good info but there's no way in hell you would have used that term with an MSU commit.
Same question. I'd feel a whole lot better about this class if we coudl've just added one more DL recruit. Is there any chance we get someone else to commit shortly?
At the moment, it's not necessary. The Spartans took 6 DL in the '11 class, all of whom red-shirted. That included 4 DTs and 2 DEs. MSU will take 2 DEs in '13 and probably 1-2 DTs and be fine going forward.
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.
Well right now he is damaged goods and Kyle himself has complained that he doesn't feel right as of now and that he 'Would never forget to take his pain meds again'. He said OSU is getting damaged goods, not that MSU didn't want him.

Dr Opti, providing wisdom;one message at a time.
Rocky, is there any brief recap on the injuries to some of '11 DTs? Seems like Knox and some of the other DTs had surgeries and/or conditioning issues that may not point toward a bright future -- at least not anytime soon. Of course my knowledge begins and ends with what I read on the internets, so likely / hopefully I'm wrong.
thanks alot rocky....one last thing: Hoover moving inside or not? Good idea or bad? I like it personally. It's crowded on the edges right now....and we need help in the trenches.
I'm no recruitnik, but the coaches seem happy enough with who is already on campus that they're not reaching for players just to have somebody for that position in this class. I haven't heard about any kind of superstar on the table in Junioe College, so instead of the JUCO route, I'd prefer they focus on this year's high school juniors and make their roster up with 4 year guys.
no argument from me faygo.....and that's been Coach D's philosophy too....only juco he's had is Fonoti to my knowledge due to the bad luck with Ray and Barrett's injuries
A.R. White was a JC transfer, too.
CBD, do you know if we are going after anyone else today or if we are content with the current class? Thanks!
Now with a PhD in Applied Llama Physics...
Probably not. There will be a staff meeting tonight to discuss any possible options still out there.
I think 2012 is probably done except for some possible preferred walk-ons.
CBD could you fill us in on the recruitment of Madaris now that he's faxed over his LOI?
Sooooooooo, Monty story?
Thanks! Appreciate the update
Story time, please.
