4 or 5 OL in 2014.
1 - C
2 - OG
2 - OT
Most of MSU's top 2013 OL prospects went off the board very early in the process. The pickings for OL prospects in 2013 are now slim to none. With limited scholarships available for 2013, the staff won't take another OL just to have a warm body. It's very doubtful that MSU will add another OL in 2013. Getting Cass Tech OT Dennis Finley to commit was a major coup for the staff.
Bain and Adams are long shots but the staff is staying in contact with them.
MSU has slipped some with Augusta.
Getting some mixed signals on how they feel about Dunbar.
You mean........Benenoch is not a viable option???
Damn. Getting only 1 OL in a class kind of sucks. I remember when we used to make fun of Dickrod for doing the same thing.
Huge issue for the 2014 class, but we are at least off to a very good start there.
I like how this class is panning out. Another solid one.
We brought in 3 on scholarship last year and Conklin will carry over as a scholarship player come January. Now, are those 4 good enough? Hope so.
Are we down to a Peko commit before its a wrap for '13? The Williams commit pushes your counter to 1 or 2.
I just GOTTA think we have two more to go.
Would love to wrap it up with Peko and an OT
Here are the positions MSU is looking to fill with the remaining 2013 scholarships :
QB - 0
RB - 0
WR - 0 or 1
TE - 0
OT - 0 or 1 (The pickings are slim to none now for 2013).
OG - 0 or 1
DT - 1 (With Devyn Salmon's commit, the staff is still definitely looking to sign another DT)
DE - 1 (With Demetrius Cooper's commit, the staff is still considering the possibility of taking another DE).
MLB - 0
OLB - 0
CB - 0
S - 0 or 1 (The staff may still want a prototype SS in this class).
K - 0 (The staff is looking to sign a Preferred Walk-on K or possibly a Gray Shirt for 2013 since Dan Conroy will be a Sr. in 2012 and Kevin Muma will be a Sr. in 2013).
P - 0 (The staff would like to sign a Preferred Walk-On P for 2013).
MSU will eventually sign 1 or 2 more recruits in the 2013 class.
So S is still a possibility even with Williams now in the fold?
Yes, if you read Duffy's post it looks like 1-2 more commits. Peko and one of OT, DE, DT, SS if they take more than one.
As of today, I can't see MSU taking another DB. I know people will say "well if a guy like Alexander wants to come..." but while MSU maybe will get a visit, I don't see the kid committing.
I can see MSU taking another DT for sure, and then after that who knows? They way things look, there's just not room for MSU to add much more than one more player. If they strike out on some guys, then I could see going the "best player available" route, but I have a hard time envisioning too many surprises.
Unless MSU sees a ton of injuries or departures between now and February, I don't see there being a lot more action for the 2013 class.
Are we looking at three scholarships left here?
DE: Augusta or Dunbar
Class? That'd be a GREAT way to wrap it up, and we could be done with it by the new year. Great start to next year's class as well.
That would be great and could happen, but I wouldn't be surprised to see just Dawson/Peko or just Peko (assuming the other guys commit else where). Scholarships are very tight. Looking at the departing seniors and the number of guys committed and MSU would currently be over barring quite a few departures/transfers. We'll see...
Yea I think the Dunbar ship has sailed as well. I think it's probably Dawson/ first to commit between Peko and Augusta. Although you'd have to think the staff would take both Peko and Augusta due to the lack of young guys stepping up in the two deeps at tackle. I also expect some attrition this off season as well due to the draft and transfers...imo.
I will do back flips, if we land Peko and Augusta!!!!!!
I'd prefer Peko and Dawson....
laconophilia is everywhere...
Do we know whether msu is still considering Augusta? Has he heard from our staff lately?
Jared Shanker @JShankerESPN
Still no official visits set for #ESPN150 DL Josh Augusta #Mizzou #Illini #Hawkeyes
Seems like a weird recruitment to me. He has hardly taken any visits and repeatedly stated that he has to register with the NCAA office. Are grades an issue?
The Dunbar ship probably sailed a long time ago. MSU gave him the offer an he had a chance to commit. Nothing inside here, just stuff I read from a local reporter who covered hs recruiting.
Dunbar had certain favorites that he was waiting on and now lost his spot w us. I won't name the enemies he was waiting on as the dream offer but kind of glad we have other options. Funny how once all the others didnt come about he was all of a sudden exclaiming us as the team to beat.
