2 moves for MSU commits in the rankings:
Damion Terry goes to a 92 from a 90 and is in the top 247 (#203)
Delton Williams goes from an 87 to a 91 and is in the top 247 (#220)
Tyler Boyd from a 90 to a 93

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.
Very surprised Reschke didn't get a boost past a 90. Kid had a very good SR year.
He's definitely underrated.
I think MSU's most underrated commits are, in no order:
- Jon Reschke (90)
- Shane Jones (87)
- Jalyn Powell (85)
- Dennis Finley (84)
- Trey Kilgore (83)
- Devyn Salmon (77)
Really, the fact that Salmon is rated as a 2* is borderline criminal.
laconophilia is everywhere...
I assume you meant Williams instead of Boyd. Anyways it's nice to see our guys get the boost after huge senior seasons. Also surprised about Reschke. Seems like he should be in the 92-94 range.
Naw, Boyd went to a 93. Williams was at a 90 when I first checked, and now is at a 91. The rankings are being updated all day today apparently.
Jones is a 4-star on the other 3 services
Finely has 4-stars from 2 services
Didn't Kilgore get hurt/played QB? I want to say that has a lot to do with his ranking
Salmon being a 2-star is Chmura being a 2-star is likewise confusing.
I was just saying that your post said "2 moves for MSU commits" and then you listed Terry and Boyd. I figured you meant Terry and Williams.
Yea, that's my bad. Going too fast .
Williams is now at a 91 and Terry's at a 92
Boyd got a bump up to 93, just included him since he's taking an OV to MSU.
Yeah, I those are the ones I think are underrated per 247's ratings.
247 rates Jones lower than the other 3.
Finley has 4* from other services, but is considered a less than average 3* by 247 at 84.
Kilgore played some QB his Sophomore/Junior years, and missed all but 3-4 of his games this year. There is reasoning for why he hasn't gotten a bump, but I do believe he is much better than an 83, due mainly to the fact that several analysts have said he very well could be the best WR in Ohio. Meanwhile, 247's rankings have 8 WR's ranked higher than Kilgore in Ohio, 2 of them being 4* and 6 being 3*.
Salmon has the accolades, offers (Cincinnati, Iowa State, WVU), interest (Miami, Virginia, and others), and skill of at least a low 3*.
Chmura also is being punished for an injury, I think. Only his injury was more damaging as it interfered with his camp circuit (*gasp*), IIRC.
Seeing now, however, that they are continuously changing the ratings, maybe some of these guys will get a well deserved bump.
As far as not giving lower rated guys (Salmon, Chmura, Kilgore) a bump, maybe it's just that the analysts are more focused on the guys who are already rated 3* and above
A guy moving from 3* to 4* will grab more attention than lower rated guys moving up to 3*. They're more concerned with the higher rated prospects because those are the ones who generate readership.

Big 2013 visitor weekend on tap. It looks like there's some pretty good talent visiting that aren't current Spartan commitments. If that's any indication of how the class will close out, MSU should have a strong finish.
I think you're dead on. Kilgore's improvement on the footwork side of things is remarkable when considering how little full time work he actually got at WR in HS. Bill Greene, an OSU specialist thought he was one of the most under rated players in that state. Watch his sophomore to JR film and there's also a little SR film too.
Salmon is the biggest head scratcher of the bunch IMO. His rating is a pure embarassment to the profession. As this game has changed these analyst seem to place more and more emphasis on the summer camp circuit and less on season stats. This dude has camp accolades and pretty good seasonal stats and remains under evaluated.
Chmura, what can you say. He's been the victim of injuries.
In the end, it looks like '13 is a typical Dantonio class: More 4-stars than 2-stars and a lot of mid to high 3-star guys that look like they could develop into good players in a couple of years. Not the top class in the conference, but solid "quality" guys.
MSU has hovered at between 4-6 4-stars (depending on the service) for the past few years.
Just some observations.
Looking at Rivals, this will be Dantonio's 1st class that includes all 3stars or higher
Terry (#9), Williams (#12), and Harris (#26) are on the PennLive Top 50 Pennsylvania Recruits list

On a random note, one-time MSU target Elijah Daniels got a 5-star bump. Wow.
Saw Joshua Jones, Illinois commit has and OV to MSU. Any chance of an offer?
If Jones follows thru on his OV to MSU, there is an offer waiting for him or possibly sooner if Coach D visits his HS this week.
Wasn't aware we wanted another safety...Jones has some decent offers too.
Is there any reason we'd go after another safety? We have Meyers and Cox from '12, Powell and maybe Williams in '13 already.
MSU has always wanted a prototype SS in the 2013 class with Isaiah Lewis and Jairus Jones graduating after 2013.
Delton Williams will get a long look @ RB in Fall camp. He is an athlete and will also get looks @ S and OLB but RB would be the spot that he could get PT as a true Fr.
Hope Delton can maintain speed after bulking up. I'd love to see a big SS like him prowling the middle of the field.
Kind of like how the Seahawks are set up.
CB - Waynes
S - Williams
S - Cox
CB - Lippett
That's some serious size and speed across the board.
I read Dantonio was to be at WLW today for a visit. I would imagine Dantonio would be visiting to extend an offer, but we'll see.
It sounds like Jones had a big senior year and would be a great addition to the G&W.
So, uh, scratch that. Sounds like he's cancelled his visit for this weekend.
Such is recruiting.
Yeah, that's what I've been saying on Williams too CBD. We have Tompkins, HOlmes and the scatter back from Wisconsin whose game escapes me right now.....plus Langford and Hill. IF Langford and Hill were the answer they would have gotten PT last season to spell Bell and they didn't. SO......yeah, I think Williams will get a long look at RB: we have some young talent and I think the Oline will be better: serviceable to run behind at least. I've lost all hope this group will ever be dominant, but serviceable for sure.
