Seems a little strange that MSU offered Bodanis. Sounded as if they were done after getting a commitment from Noah Jones. I remember reading on this site a quote from Jones saying he was told he was the last recruit for this class. Odd to add another recruit especially at the same position, unless someone is likely to switch positions. Maybe Martinez will also join the 2013 class.
I don't think there was an actual quote from Noah, was there?
In any case, Bodanis projects more to NT, while Jones is more of a 3-technique.
A story about recruiting of Tyler Boyd from Mom's perspective
Gorman: A mother’s view of the recruiting process
Tonya Payne thought the recruiting process was supposed to be enjoyable, instead of the nightmare it has quickly become.
Payne is a single mother of two boys whose youngest son, Clairton’s Tyler Boyd, is Pitt’s marquee WPIAL recruit in the Class of 2013.
At least, until Boyd took an official visit to West Virginia this weekend. That caused some commotion for the Panthers and their fans.
While Payne defended Boyd’s decision to visit the Mountaineers just three weeks after picking Pitt on national television at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, she did so with a caveat.
“This decision affects my child’s life for the next four to five years,” Payne said. “Before he went down, he told me, ‘I’m committed to Pitt.’ He reassured me he wouldn’t change his mind.”
Payne said Boyd was under peer pressure to use his four remaining official visits, and has flirted with the idea of taking trips to Wisconsin, Michigan State and Penn State before changing his mind each time.
Payne also said Boyd “probably would have picked Penn State, if not for the (NCAA) sanctions.”
Payne said that Pitt’s coaching change also helped, as she didn’t trust Todd Graham but has built a relationship with Paul Chryst’s staff.

I don't know how this misconception began, but no article on this site said that Jones was told he was the last recruit in the class.
But as Macks suggests, this is for a different position, and is a transfer instead of a recruit anyway.
laconophilia is everywhere...
Wow, the coaches have now secured commitments on 3 of the last 4 visits to campus; Justin Williams, Noah Jones, and James Bodanis. Only one who hasn't committed yet is Drake Martinez.
CBD, do you know what the staff has been doing differently the last two weekends? Or have they been saving this recruits for near to signing day so that they could get verbals that wouldn't have time to be challenged or something? They're mid-ranked and under-the-radar types, but the staff seems on fire right now.
There was an article posted from an outside source with Jones saying that. I guess it does not matter now.
“@TheBadgerNation: Brookfield East Alec James: 'I am still committed to the #Badgers. I never de-committed at any point.' Says he's just considering Oregon.”
I guess this explains him canceling his visit
I think he'll be in Fennell's class or something like that. He's a transfer (and a NT); no clue how the heck that works with the scholarship stuff.
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.
JermainCrowell: Im not sure how Ohio st is doing this but there at Cass so much im starting to think they work there. I know our kids know coach Coombs.
Now is the time for Pitt to get it going!
Scum's death grip on CT Is fading. It is no longer a given that they will be on a fast track to AA. However I do hope that MI kids want to stay in state and attend one of the two major schools. tOSU & the SEC will continue to push hard for our top prospects regularly.

More drama in the Boyd recruiting story. But no mention of a visit to MSU. Starting to look like the Pryor recruitment. May not sign on signing day.
Clairton star Boyd ‘confused’ after visiting West Virginia
By Keith Barnes
Published: Wednesday, January 30, 2013, 10:48 a.m.
Clairton senior Tyler Boyd knew the cameras and all eyes were on him Jan. 5 at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio when he stood behind a table arrayed with baseball caps from Pitt, West Virginia and Michigan State.
He picked up the Pitt hat and committed to the Panthers.
With less than a week remaining until national signing day Feb. 6, Boyd is wondering if he made the right choice.
Boyd was scheduled to visit Tennessee last weekend — a visit he instead plans to take Friday — but headed for Morgantown and an official visit to West Virginia.
“It was pretty good, but it was nothing like I expected,” Boyd said. “It was a nice program, and I liked it. I could see myself in the spread offense, and it's something I could see myself in. I've still got a big decision to make.”
Although signing day is Wednesday, Boyd has until April 1 — the end of this year's signing period — to decide where he wants to go. For now, he is committed to Pitt.
“It felt good at the time because my boys are there and I'd love to play the next four years with my bros and my family, but it ain't about that,” Boyd said. “I'm just trying to go somewhere that best fits me.”

Martinez to Nebraska, which should end this class. Unless Boyd wants to take a visit after signing day
I'll be honest, I'm not even sure I want Boyd anymore.. I hate this type of behavior by recruits.. It's not like he committed in January and then opened up his recruitment in March for signing day the following year.. Nobody forced him to commit at that game, he did it because he wanted publicity.. The fact that he has a "big decision to make" is ridiculous in my mind. I imagine he may have buyers remorse wherever he goes.
Plus Boyd has had years to figure this out. Why do it all in Jan.
Is Duzzi still working on the Jersey kids committed to UNC, or is that over?
chill man. Its a young kid with probably more pressure on his back than most of us have had ever. He isn't just making the decision for him, but for his whole family.
I would think more than a few of us have experienced a heckuva lot more pressure than that! That being said...at his age it probably is real significant pressure.

Not sure if this should be posted in here but JUCO WR Corey Smith has committed to that snake in Ohio. For some reason I thought we were pursuing him.
I don't think we've been pursuing him for quite some time.

I guess Urb will have to run a few more players out of town since he will again be over his scholarship limit.
Wasn't MSU in on him out of HS, but then he couldn't qualify? Didn't get not get an OSU offer then, which is why he was looking around, or am I mis-remembering what happened?
Go Bears, Blackhawks, White Sox, and Pioneers.
Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand
Yeah, we wanted him out of HS. He committed to Tennessee after actually forgoing his senior season of HS, but couldn't qualify. Went to GRCC, said he wanted to play for MSU, but had to leave when GRCC dissolved the football program. I could be wrong, but he continued having grade issues, and that's when we started going in a different direction.

This is a huge decision for a kid. Kid's that haven't yet had many huge choices in life. Any whining about how they go about it really isn't for this forum.
You hope they do it will a clear head and you hope MSU presents themselves as the best option for a lot of reasons.
Anyone else notice that 247 lists Bodanis as being from Toronto, Ohio?
