Freudian slip by 247....he'll inevitably flip to OSU at some point.
247's big boss likes this class
“@jcshurburtt: Really think #MichiganState has the sleeper class of the B1G”
Translation: We know they have one of the best classes, but they don't buy enough subscriptions. Sooooo.... This is awkward.....
laconophilia is everywhere...
Interesting rule changes from the NCAA... Basically, the NCAA deregulated the recruiting process and is empowering the universities to create recruiting branches. I only see the burnout of head coaches and the player headaches with the recruiting process accelerating.
Having Andre Rison on the staff should help us here. Maybe we can bring back some other former greats. Wonder what the Thornhills, Sedrick Irvin, and others are up to nowadays...
Duckett is living in el we need him on staff
Jandy, while your comment was hilarious, JC has been overtly complimentary of our class. He's on the Bill King show at least once a week on serius/XM in the mornings. He leaves the regional rankings up to the individual regional guys and 247's policy is based around pro potential and positions taken in the first two rounds so given our limited recruiting on the lines this class it was going to be a bit lower. I ways got the feeling listening to him he liked our class alot more than others and thought it was a bit low but ts just how 247 does it.
Agree...TJ is a GOOD man and a great Spartan...he has millions and is basically retired. I would think he would love to be positively involved with the program. Someone tweet Coach D' and put a bug in his ear. Either that or Hollis...where has Hollis been lately anyway?
Yea, he and I have had a discussion about pro vs. college potential and the rankings. He flat out said they're going to rank a 6'5 260 pound DE prospect as a higher than a 6'1 230 pound prospect, even if the 6'1 guy has the first step to be a real pain in the rear in college (like Jonal St. Dic, for instance). The first guy will be a 5-star and the 2nd guy a 3-star, but the 2nd guy could actually make a bigger college impact.
I think MSU's class has plenty of potential college impact players. There are probably 6-8 guys who are going to have a great shot at being pros, guys like Terry, Reschke, Williams, Finely, Hicks, Powell and the RBs. A guy like Shane Jones looks like an awesome college LB, a la Greg Jones, but if he's listed at 6'1 he's probably right around 6'0 or a little shorter.
The DTs we'll see about, but I bet one of them works out to be a very good player. Cooper's got a ton of potential too.
As has been the case in recent years, I don't see a ton of "reaches" in this class. That probably matters more than anything else in recruiting.
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.
I would agree. In fact I don't see a single reach in this class.
yeah cope....I know he works with his bro but I believe Tico started that biz didn't he? Either way, TJ made millions with the Falcons.....matter of fact they could do some recruiting together locally. My god, everyone knows who the Duckett brothers are.
"Make millions" doesn't necessarily mean "has millions".
I would see TJ around EL a bit right before graduating. I'm sure he's well off, but its hard to know for sure if he spent his money wisely.
I do agree that he is a good Spartan. Does a lot of good charity work in and around the EL area.
Damion Terry and Jon Reschke both included as honorable mentions on the Parade All-America team.
I looked back over the last few years and the only Spartans I found named to the team previously were Will Gholston and Kevin Muma.
All hail Florida running back Derrick Henry

Good for them.
I think there's a general feeling on this board that most, or probably all, MSU recruits are underrated. I do agree, in some instances, that's true, however, I think we're seeing a lot of MSU commits receiving some major props. I don't really remember this happening in past years.
Purdue received a verbal from RB Dayln Dawkins out of Louisville,KY today. Here is the services overall thoughts on him.
Scout has him a 4-star and #36 RB in the country
ESPN has him a 3-star and #127 RB in the country
Rivals has him a 3-star (5.6) and NR RB in the country
247Sports has him a 3-star and #86 RB in the country
I have always found Scout's football rankings interesting. Case in point Mr. Dawkins offer list. "Dawkins held offers from several other schools including Cincinnati and Illinois, but ultimately chose the Boilers over Colorado State and Western Kentucky. ". That is not a 4-star RB offer list. certain things like this crack me up about the fans freaking out over class ranking and star rankings.
I saw Shurbutt tweeted today that MSU has sleeper class of the B1G and is really high on guys like Cooper, Williams, Terry, "the kid from Canada" and others.
I bet that if Cooper had a SR year he'd be a 4-star by now.
this is a very solid class, so far, in respect with how Dantonio operates. I see a number of guys who i believe will be very productive college football players as upperclassman once they redshirt and get 2 years to know this system.
I wonder how Cooper will fill out. He was very explosive and fast but he's playing at like 6'6 215. I wonder if he can keep that burst at 6'6 245 or so.
Thought it was interesting that we have the same amount of kids in this class from Florida and PA as we do from Michigan.
I am not a doctor
6'6 215? That's a stick, that's sooo skinny. I feel like he will have even more explosion with 30 lbs of muscle. Speed maybe, but strength? No question.
Coaches who can outline plays on a black board are a dime a dozen. The ones who win get inside their player and motivate.
MI talent hasn't been great for a couple of years now.
Probably not since 2009 or maybe 2010.
There hasn't been an in-state consensus 5-star since Gholston ('10) and the '09 class was the last one to have double-digit 4-stars on any service (Rivals).
