Jon Beilein is coaching football now?
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.
laconophilia is everywhere...
Bizarre that Charlie Weiss is still able to land recruits who have options, like DT Marquel Combs. Apparently a group of talented JUCOs have all decided the want to play at Kansas, including Combs.
I'll never understand recruiting, not in a million years, but I'll really, really never understand why is Charlie Weiss not considered college football poison by everyone at this point. Slappy is a .500 coach versus John L. Smith, that's just who he is and going 1-11 in Lawrence doesn't suggest he's likely to improve. Is it just that he's a name, due to his time on Belicheck's coattails? It doesn't seem to matter if he's ever successful in college because he can convince recruits he's better able to get them ready to play in the league? Just don't get it.
Dominoes Continue to Fall for Kansas Football Recruiting
Kansas is a terrible football school. Last year they were blown out by almost every single B12 school. This year he at least kept it close against a few them. I think Kansas under him will consistently be around 6-6.
6-6 is pretty good for Kansas.
I guess I should have clarified that I think Weis will be a pretty decent coach for Kansas.
Hokes been offering alot of committed players lately... newest one is Iowa commit Delano Hill.
Another cass tech kid. I've wanted us to give him another look.
What's the deal with all their late offers? I know the lost Dawson, although he may come back around, and one more I know of (or heard I thought), but I thought they only had like one spot before that. They seem to have offered a lot of guys for how many spots they have left. How many more are they taking?
Your referring to gareon Conley, who decommited and went to tOSO.
Lots of late offers, weird really that they're all to commited kids. Had to move on to Iowa I guess since our recruits said no thanks. Delano Hill is one of those guys a few of us wanted and for some reason the coaches never went all in. He definitely was going to commit if and when we offered on our junior day and it never came, to most of our surprise. Then he goes out to the opening and runs a sick 40 and rubs it in everyone's face. You know what, good for him. I hope he sticks with Iowa for coming after him. Just wish we'd seen fit to offer like you said.
MSU totally missed the boat on Dealano Hill. Now they'll have to face him for 4 or 5 years at um or at Iowa if he stays committed to them.
Hill grew up a MSU fan and wanted to commit to MSU at a Jr. Day. He was a virtual MSU lock.
He was pissed that MSU didn't extend him an offer and committed to Iowa not too long after that.
At that time (Feb.) Dantonio was in the "go home and think about it" or "come to camp and receive an offer" mode.
In today's recruiting environment, this approach just doesn't cut it anymore !
Don't know if Dantonio has learned anything yet as to how much the recruiting landscape has changed.
Note : Also missed another opportunity to break into the Cass Tech pipeline.
Dawson decommitting opened up a spot for an OL so they offered two OL from California and then Dawson again, then finally Finley(which is confusing to me because he's an OT).
Conley was supposed to be a CB and they are a holding a spot for McQuay, who may be leaning away from Michigan, so that could explain the new DB offers (teammate of one of our LB recruits, Delano Hill). A kid from Florida, James Crawford, who is Woodson's nephew will likely receive an offer if McQuay is out of the picture.
There are rumors of attrition at LB and the staff has offered a few LBs (Reschke, current VT commit).
Thanks in advance for landing Trout.
We all love your posts and inside info... But THIS, cements your legacy..
Whispers from scout that there is an impending coaching change at iowa, which could affect hill. Right now he is solid, but will consider all of his options. I sent you an "inside" interview with dawson talking about hill which seemed highly pro UM and referred to them both going blue. Dawson hkwever, has been erratic and acted like an 18 year old who has gone through a lot. So i temper everything i hear from him, including his go blue tweet this morning. we may be hearing go blue, go tosu, go msu and such until nsd.
CBD - I have to disagree with you here. By all indications, MSU has two very good S prospects committed in Powell and Williams who were also good enough in the staff's eyes to warrant offers before camp. Hill could end up being an unbelievable player, no way to know that today, but with tight scholarships it looks like the staff got two S prospects they wanted. Are you suggesting they would have liked Hill over the other two? And if they do, what stops them from recruiting him now?
Would this big such a "big deal" if Hill didn't go to Cass Tech or wasn't offered by UM? I don't think so.

Thanks for the contribution.
I tend to think similarly.
There will be no change. There have been so many time where it looks like Ferentz is on the way out and it never happens.
While I tend to agree I just noticed that Greg Garmon is now transferring. That's the 7th RB to transfer in less than 3 years. Something is truly fouled up there and I have no idea what it is. That guy just can't seem to right the ship.
I felt like it was pretty pro um on the Dawson front but nothing new on Hill. I mean, we know he's going to take a visit but I wouldn't be surprised if he said "no thanks" to a late offer from either of us, (looks as if we've got no plans to ever offer). He was certainly surprised when he attended our junior day ready to commit and then there was no offer. Your staff has paid him no mind for the majority of the process. Most of those surrounding him have spoke volumes about his relationship with Liles and their staff. I don't know that a late offer turns him at this point.
Dawson, however, is gone for us.
Can someone fill me in on Riley Norman? I read somewhere he has committed to throw shot put for the MSU track team. What are the odds he plays football as well?
Talk earlier this year was that he was definitely not going to play college football. There hasn't been anything making its way around the boards to say different.
There is speculation that the staff and Riley are in on getting a scholarship free redshirt season through his track and field schollie but it's purely speculation. No proof or anything to suggest that other than "wouldn't it be nice".
