Marshall is there right now, isn't he? Today's their junior day
I'm talking about the fact he grew up a UM fan and USC was his fav. school growing up. Like Webb, MSU offered and certainly wanted him, but it's not like MSU was in it till the end and it came down to MSU/tOSU.
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.
Urban just points at a kid and they drop everything they're doing and commit without even thinking about it. You've really got to wonder if Harris' MSU commitment is going to survive his first visit there, regardless of what the people around him are saying. Meyer is just something else.
If Bullough flips, we'd better scrap the program for realz.
laconophilia is everywhere...
Yeah I meant he visited us as recently as Jan 13th.
There is no positive spin here. If it rubs coach D the wrong way we need to work harder, change tactics, hire better recruiters, whatever. We've got a top 5 national defense. There is no reason to get smoked on the DL. This is not a woe is me panic post. I fully understand they've made changes such as offering earlier, etc. I think we've learned recently the DL recruiting may have been in part to the position coach's inability to get his tail off campus and get in some dang living rooms. Hopefully coach lights a fire under Burton's tail feathers and gets him acclimated and on the damn road as soon as possible.
I wanted Marshall, but it will take a spot away from an Ohio kid who will give is a more than serious look. He's out there, and is hating their staff more than ever this afternoon.
Tressell ran roughshod over the Big Ten as well. OSU is an elite program in a premier football producing state- they are going to get their talent.
There is a good and bad with Meyer over Tressell- Meyer has pulled a few scuM leans to OSU which really didn't hurt us as much as it hurt scuM. We were making inroads with Webb and Marshall, but they were more likely at this point to go to their childhood fav in scuM rather than us.
Tressell had the state of Ohio on lockdown to scuM- which really hurt their core base outside of the split of MI talent with us.
Meyer swooping in and swiping some scuM leans doesn't hurt us, if he gets Harris then obviously he dings us. OSU going national opens up the state of Ohio a little more, but the problem is that Chubby down the road has really filled the gap and taken a big chunk of the elite Ohio recruits.
Coach D and staff have to evaluate talent better and have already proven that they do it as well as any staff in the league.
Still early and lots of talent out there.
OK, no spin, but at least you can take solace in not being the only one to flip out about this . . .
24/7 should create a Loser's Lounge for the little girls who wet themselves every time a recruit w/an MSU offer chooses another school.
Isn't that what the Purdue board is? (Everytime they lose a recruit to another school they were "cheated" and cry in their beers with Painter)

It may be, but RCMB needs a special place for our crybabies.
Why the hell is our junior day on a TUESDAY?
Lincoln's B-day and kids have the day off school? (guessing . . . it's a state holiday in IL).
Are we SURE it's on Tuesday? I know the countdown is on the side of the screen, but that could be a 247 bug for all I know (sad).
None of the rumblings or anything have said Tuesday IIRC. And i think Illinois is the only state where kids have the day off for Lincoln's birthday
i think that CBD said that it's not a official junior day, but that it was just a big recruiting day based around the STATE vs scUM bball game...
Just look at this teams record this year, that's why people wet themselves. It has nothing to do with the staffs recruiting tactics, there is nothing they will be able to do to compete with UM and OSU in recruiting. Urban Meyer can just go show off his shiny national championship ring, plus OSU's tradition, and UM has great tradition that reels in their recruits. Urban Meyer took a team that had nothing to play for this year and went undefeated. They have a much better sales pitch than we do. We just have to win our way, with the recruits we get.
and, you know, have our coach show off HIS championship ring..
FWIW, Rico Beard reported that Webb's decision did, in fact, come down to MSU/OSU, contrary to what many believed about UM's chances. If you would, you can tell me what you think about his credibility, because I really don't have enough exposure to his reporting to have an opinion.
Urban just isn't a good dude.
I would not send my kid to play for that guy.
Would have been fun if Bret hung around! May have been like the Jud-Keady-Knight games
LOL. Only the Land of Lincoln gets that day off.
Most get Monday for presidents day...all wrapped into one.
I checked and it's a state holiday in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, and Indiana. Guess MI doesn't love them some Lincoln .
Anyways, I think the answer is that it's an unofficial JR day built around the MSU/UM game tomorrow night.
The guys on the field now, for the most part, are from classes prior to Hoke or Urban Meyer, so last season's record doesn't have a thing to do with current recruiting.
This staff, for the most part, won with a 2007 class no one at the time was thrilled with, including an unknown named Kirk Cousins. They can win with the kids they have IF they fix the coaching gap on the O side of the ball.
First Rivals100 out.
Guys from MI:
#21 Malik McDowell
#32 Damon Webb
#56 Drake Harris
Surprised to see Webb ahead of Harris.
So we whiffed on Trout. Who are the offensive linemen still on our early board right now and what are our chances with them?
