Big time prospect Jamarco Jones set his visit for our spring game according to the freep
AWESOME!... Dudes a Monster!!!!!
FWIW Trieu said that Byron Bullough and Vayante Copeland are (or will soon be) 4-stars on Scout.
I hope the weather is good.
New offer spreadsheet link, added updated Scout rankings. Durkin moved up quite a bit, not sure what Byron Bullough did to drop 40 positional spots...
OP edited. 247 sucks and always adds in the old links even when i remove them, so the link actually in the op (not the ones attached) is the most updated one.
OT Chase Gianacakos (6-6, 280) from Illinois, was offered today by Michigan State.
Spelled with an XD, for an extra dose of this pimpin. #MBK5H?
Thanks XD....looks like a fine, strapping Greek lad. Can't quite see but is that a Northwestern tee shirt he's wearing?
Looking close, I think it says North St. Charles, which is his high school's name. Pretty sure there's a space after "North" at least.
Now that we've solved this...

Seems like a lot of offers to IL kids recently, or am I mistaken? Who's got ChiTown/IL now that DR is gone?

Terry Samuel and Ron Burton.
Roushar was timid and not aggressive in pushing for offers for IL recruits.
Burton and Samuel will be much more aggressive in getting offers extended to recruits in Chicagoland and IL.
Sounds like a win.
laconophilia is everywhere...
IL always seems to be loaded with linemen. We have not lost out on many of our big-time, super-early-offer linemen yet so the staff has to really like all these recently-offered players.
Speaking of Illinois: where are we at with Brian Allen CBD? Is Bollman going to try and close the deal with this kid or what? Now he's taking more visits elsewhere...not good
Bosch, visited 7 times and no one closed the kid. Visits scUM once and they ask him to pull the trigger.
What does a 2013 recruit have to do with my post? I meant 2014 offers.

Skip will never forgive the MSU staff for each missed recruit. He takes it personally.
It was related to an IL OL who was a plan A target we let slip away. We seem to have a bunch of plan A guys still out there for this cycle. Here's to hoping we land more than a few of them.

Not true in the least bit. While missed opportunities bother me, that one especially did because I think the prospect did everything but beg the staff to close him. 7 visits, come on man?
PS, we've gone almost 24 hours without a post in the Drake Harris "I fit somewhere else thread" Proud of you guys
Still not really relevant. My point is that we haven't had many (any?) of our high-target linemen slip off the board yet for 2014, so this recent round of offers to lineman has to be guys the staff really wants. There's no reason to move on to plan B yet.
Maybe I read the original comment too fast and if so, my apologies. My point was re-inforcing the fact that last cycle the majority of our Plan A targets were off the board by the end of March. There was an early run on OL and we had our eye on quality guys in IL, who we missed on.
Conversely, this season there seem to be tons of our Plan A targets all over the board in March so we're in a much better spot. If what you're saying is that we seem to be offering a smattering of low to mid 3 star guys early, indicating they're plan A, then the staff must love them then yes I agree on that point as well.
I'm not sure whether or not the staff has just spent more time and money earlier in the process to identify guys we love the analyst don't sooner and have gotten the offers out or what but we certainly haven't held back on offers this cycle with I think over 80 out at this point compared to an offer total in the 40's at the same time last year. We seem to be getting in front of a ton of kids this cycle. Maybe it's just an incredibly deep year.
Perhaps the staff is adapting?
It seems most times a kid commits somewhere else, some posters blame the staff for not having a closer or not being aggressive enough or not "asking" for a commitment. I'm not sure anyone here is really privy to what is discussed during meetings to know, so I'm not sure anyone can assume the coaches are sitting around doing nothing.
The apparent glut of early offers this year may be an experiment or may signal a shift in style. We'll see how it plays out.
That is really all I was saying.
