What is so crazy about that? The crystal ball is a "If he were to commit today" feature. If Thiyo had to pick a school today clearly it would be Michigan.
Super impressive that he could commit without an offer, iyam.
He is a 2016. Not many 2016's have offers. Even without offering Michigan is his favorite. Hence the crystal ball predictions.

Which only further takes away any shred of credibility the crystal ball may have already had. It's a silly feature to have, especially three years in advance.
Why do you guys incessantly get so worked up about the crystal ball? Stop looking at it if you hate it.
This is the dumbest conversation ever
I think it's fun but people take it WAY too seriously. Recruiting goes in trends. People get way too pissed off when the crystal ball reads something other than their school. Thiyo has nothing but glowing remarks about Michigan and people are getting pissed because analysts are saying Michigan is an early favorite
Do you see people when every Bullough is predicted to MSU?
Crystal Ball when it was introduced wasn't "if he were to commit today" it was, "where he's going to commit". If theres a long way to go in his recruitment, what the hell is the point in making a prediction?
Edit: oh look, youre back

Ok so what is wrong with someone predicting that a fan of a school commits to that school?
It's extremely misleading, for one. Any information that isn't credible ideally should not be on a recruiting website, especially not one where people pay to read factual information.
You add nothing to the discussions around here, I suggest you leave. BTW, is Speight a 4 star now? I believe they have redone their rankings....
Ha! Internet bets and claims mean nothing!
Gary Hosey commits to EMU. Guess we were never going to offer him. I think he'll be good
I agree. As good a LB'er as he is his RB film is equally impressive. If I could have one "big" RB I'm taking Owens for sure. However, I actually think Hosey is the better of the three outstanding CT LB'ers. We do have depth at the Mike so I get it but I always felt he was a versatile football player. Good luck to the kid.
Did they take him at RB or LB? I actually believe he was a MAC type player. His film was good, but you go ahead and watch other MAC players and it looks somewhat similar. And considering the team he had around him and in front of him, he was going to look pretty good.
I do think he's a solid pick up for EMU, but he would have been a reach for MSU in my mind.

He's going to play RB
Is there any reason in particular why we don't have some big recruiting event like UM's BBQ or OSU's FNL? Seems to be extremely effective for them to get everyone together like that.
With MSU's track record of success on defense you would think that top flight Defensive Ends would be knocking down the door wanting to play for MSU. Add in the aggressive style of defense that we play and you would think it would make MSU even more appealing. Dont these high school kids watch any college football? MSU should be one of the top destinations for highly ranked Defensive Ends. Maybe Coach Narduzzi should run around the country telling recruits he is going to turn them into the next Bruce Smith or JJ Watt.

Hopefully with Burton as the DL coach we'll see more of that. Gill seemed to be a decent coach but he was nonexistent on the recruiting trail. I know it goes by region but we've already seen a lot of recruits impressed by Burton.
It would help if DEs made a name for themselves at MSU. After ST. Dic and Baldwin, it was a parade of mostly "meh" until Gholston.
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.
Trevor Anderson had a really nice season in 2008.
Could be a lack of funding? Maybe we get one of that with the new recruiting coordinator
It seems lately these type of events have been picking up steam. I opened up my ESPN app on my phone this weekend and one of the first stories on "The Lead" was UM's commitment. Could MSU be following suit in upcoming recruiting cycles? I wouldn't be surprised. It's hard to argue these events aren't successful for the programs hosting them.
It's worth noting that MSU isn't just sitting on their butts all summer. The camps in June have netted MSU some solid players.
