The 2013 Realistic Wish List

  • svenski84 said...

Yay, more WRs/athletes. Screw the OL. Conklin and Kieler better be studs.

Bradshaw to UVA. Sounds like you don't have to worry about him taking an OL spot lol

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

This is the earliest in the recruiting process that I've ever put together a wish list. With MSU's 2013 class about 85% complete, it's time to take a look at a realistic wish list.
MSU currently has 44 offers out to 2013 prospects who are still uncommitted. Here goes :

PA, ATH Delton Williams - Drug charges against him were dismissed. Planning to take Official Visits to MSU, WVU and Neb. MSU leads for him.
FL, ATH Lamar Robbins - His top 2 were MSU and WVU but about 15 other schools are still pushing hard for him. If the U were to offer him, that's where he would go. He may take an Official Visit to MSU.
CA, S Brandon Arnold - MSU and Cal are his current Top 2. If Ore. offers him, then that's where he would go. Wants to take an Official Visit to MSU. May not really want to leave the West Coast.
IL, DL Josh Augusta - Top 3 of MSU, ILL and Mizzou in that order. He had some grade issues which it appears he is getting resolved. Planning to take an Official Visit to MSU.
IL, DE Ruben Dunbar - He now has declared that MSU is his leader. Had some grade issues but apparently those have been resolved. He wants to schedule an Official Visit to MSU.
JUCO, DT Kyle Peko - MSU legacy. If USC were to offer him, that's where he would go but it looks like USC won't ever be offering him now. MSU currently leads for him. Planning to take an Official Visit to MSU in Dec. after his JUCO season ends. His friend, Spartan Fou Fonoti, will be his Spartan host when he visits.
OH, OL Kyle Meadows - MSU is in his Top 5. He attended o$u's summer camp but they didn't extend him an offer. If o$u ever offers him, then that's where he would go. MSU is keepng tabs on him and wants to see more of him during his Sr. season. He wants to take an Official Visit to MSU.
FL, DT Monty Nelson - MSU is in his Top 6. It appears that MSU has cooled on him. He still wants to take an Official Visit to MSU.
NJ, S Reginald Green - MSU is in his Top 5.
FL, S Justin Williams - Top 3 of MSU, S. Car. and FIU. It appears that MSU has cooled on him.
PA, ATH Tyler Boyd - Versatile player who can play RB, WR, CB and S. Hasn't named any leaders yet.
OH, S Marcus Ball - MSU is in his Top 4 along with Wisc., ND, and ASU but Wisc. leads for him now. MSU may receive one of his Official Visits.
GA, DT Montravious Adams - MSU is in his Top 6. He is planning an Official Visit to MSU, possibly for the ND game. His HS friend, Spartan Keith Mumphery will be his Spartan host when he visits.
NJ, OT Hunter Knighton - MSU has been trying to schedule him in for an Official Visit. Probably will receive an offer if he visits. MSU would move into his top 5 if they extend him an offer. Pat Narduzzi is his main recruiter.
GA, DT Jay Ellison - Wants to take an Official Visit to MSU.
TX, OL Caleb Benenoch - MSU is still recruiting him. He may take an Official Visit to MSU.
OH, DT Donovan Munger - May be an o$u lean but he is planning to take all 5 of his official visits and MSU could get one.
FL, DT Maquedius Bain - De-committed from FSU. Recently stated that his top 5 are now MSU, Miami, Bama, LSU and USC. Planning to take all 5 of his Official Visits and MSU will be one of them. His former HS teammate, Spartan McGarrett Kings, will be his Spartan host.
MI, OL Poet Thomas - The staff wants to see how he performs @ OT during his Sr. season before considering offering him. He would commit quickly if MSU extends him an offer.
ON, OT David Knevel - The staff wants to see some Sr. film before considering offering him. He likes MSU and would probably commit if MSU offers him.
NY, WR Malique Belfort - Recently offered by MSU. The staff was still considering taking a big WR in 2013 but it's not a priority now and Belfort does fit the mold (6'-4", 200 lbs.). It appears that MSU has cooled on him.
MI, OT Riley Norman - Will attend MSU on a Track & Field scholarship.
IL, WR Laquon Treadwell - MSU is in his Top 5 but he will eventually choose UM.
PA, WR Robert Foster - MSU is in his Top 5. Pitt may lead now due to family issues. He is now the father of twins. Also some grade concerns.

Well, that's now 24 names for 2 or 3 spots. Realistically, the staff will continue recruiting about 15 of these players hard.

Note : The staff will continue to concentate on DL, OL and a SS to finish out the 2013 class.

No, Fou is their cousin. "cousin of former Spartan offensive tackle Siitupe and defensive tackle Domata Peko." (very end of the page)

    ATH Lamar Robbins
    DT Kyle Peko
    ATH Tyler Boyd
    DE Josh Augusta
    Most Needed :
    DT Kyle Peko
    S Brandon Arnold
    DT Montravious Adams
    DE Josh Augusta
    OT Hunter Knighton
    Most Realistic :
    DT Kyle Peko
    ATH Delton Williams
    DL Ruben Dunbar

So Kyle Peko is da man. And you're saying if Tyler Boyd committed, we'd turn him into a SS?

If only one slot remained, and it was the SS position, who would you prefer among Boyd, Williams, Robbins, and Arnold?

Would you say Montravious Adams is around a 10% shot? More or less?

You don't think Robbins is serious about MSU, or you just think Delton Williams will pull the trigger first?

Tyler Boyd is one of the best athletes in the class of 2013. Having him on your roster is like having 3 additinal players because of his versatility.
if only one slot remained for the SS spot, I would prefer Lamar Robbins.
I think MSU has about a 22% shot with Montravious Adams, LOL.

MSU has a chance with Robbins but I think Delton Williams will pull the trigger first.

MSU's 2013 class could eventually max out with maybe 4 more commits tops and it will take some attrition to get to that #.
The only way RCR's projection comes to fruition is if Coach D oversigns and then encourages some current players to transfer out (SEC style). Coach D has never done that in his time at MSU.

Why is Peko listed above Montravious in terms of need? I understand realistic, but not so much in the need area.

Positions and players who can't crack the 2 or 3 deeps and are upperclassman are candidates IMO (to tranfer somewhere else).

For example there are a lot of young players on defense in the two deeps who are leapfrogging older players. In almost every unit. Some of those older guys might be itching to play.

WR is just a crazy position right now where they have 5 guys fighting for time (behind fowler) and are redshirt freshman/sophomores. You would think whoever gets left out this year might consider leaving as well with all of the true freshman they have that will fight for time next year..

Because Kyle Peko could be an early enrollee in Jan. eligible to participate in Spring practice and contribute immediately in 2013 @ NT to replace A. R. White.

I'm thinking Juwan Caesar will transfer. Reports are that he was too slow off the line and he hasn't made the top 6 WRs so he probably won't play at all this year. If he transfers after this year he'll still get 2 years to play.

I thought Caesar has been growing into a TE. He's about 215-220 (from 190ish) and looks like he has the frame to put on 30 or more lbs.

I don't know man, I heard that MSU had a 24% chance with Adams. Where are you getting your #s?

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

I think he's being looked at as a possible TE. Reports were that he bulked up (naturally) and it affected his fluidity. Get him to 6'4 235-240ish and I think you have a nice receiving TE prospect to take over for Sims in a year or 2.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.
