tOfficial 2012 Football Recruiting Thread

  • I read an article yesterday implying he was really high on UM (surprise, it was written by a UM guy on MLive) but it did mention how Coney is thought to be a FSU lean. I watched his video and the comparison to Ben Roethlisberger seems pretty accurate, so he would be awesome to have in the G&W, but I'm betting it's going to be tough to get him to leave the south.

    Maybe Denzel Drone can give him a call? IIRC, he went to Plant City as well...

  • So just based on things ive been hearing on the boards and from the news updates, these are the guys that currently have offers from us that i feel we have a pretty good chance at getting. I guess you could call it my realistic wish list. Anyway, just trying to spark up some conversation, anyone with anything to add please do so, you dont think we will get one of these guys, explain why, same if you think we will get someone not on my list.....you guys know how this works haha

    you're crazy, have you seen burbridges fiIm? guarrante burbridge is a 4 star, he's atleast top 5 in state and he'll be battling guys like O'brian and ross to be the states #1 prospect

    He's on the Rivals250 watch-list, so he's a potential 4-star guy before any camps have happened. He'll no doubt get an offer and should be a commit. He's a 6'4, go-up and get it kinda player like Caesar, but more polished. I doubt we take more than 2 WRs in this class though.

    not trying to diss the guy but you do realize corey johnson (ron johnsons younger brother) was a 250 watch list member.

    there are plenty of guys on that list who wont be 4 stars and plenty of guys not on that list who will be.

    burbridge, blackburn, norfleet, ogemudia will wind up ahead of a lot of those guys

    Yeah, but he's from Michigan. That's pretty much a negative .1 on the rivals scale for not being from the south. I do agree he is prob top 5 in the state though and looks like a future star to me. He's like Mark Dell, but faster. Scary.

    theres an article on rivals where he (Ojemudia) states he grew up rooting for MSU, never heard he was a uofm fan

  • Kiel met Captain Kirk at a summer camp and was very impressed by him. Said if everyone is like Cousins then MSU is a place he could see himself at.

    He's played varsity for more than 1 year. That's why I think he's more polished than Caesar, who no one, not even his coaches, knew he'd be good till his SR year. ESE has been talked about since last year; at the very least he's more experienced.

    Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

    Took the words out of my mouth. Cousins was a counselor at either an Elite 11 camp or some other QB thing and Kiel was very impressed with KC. That's pretty much his direct quote; if the rest of MSU's team is like KC, then MSU is a school he could go to.

    Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

  • Still never ceases to amaze me how many people on this board feel like we just can't nab the top kids.

    There is a reason all of us picked MSU and there is a reason we still follow our school and love our Spartans.

    This staff has a chance with virtually any of the midwest recruits out there. With the exception of the ones who prefer to have the "slick" recruiting style done and the false promises made to them.

    We have a great school and we are building a great football program.

    mgoblog claims that it is just a misunderstanding...

    Someone had posted in another thread that instate DE Matt Godin said he was, "Done with MIchigan."

    He wanted me to make sure that everyone knew he was disappointed in the fact that his favorite childhood school wasn't recruiting him, not that he was done with them. He said it's not an ego thing, and he just wants to prove to the coaches that he's better than some of the kids they've already offered.

    It's just some strong emotions coming out of a competitive kid that would love the chance to play for Michigan. He's going to reach out to the coaches again to see where he stands. It's obviously really early, so there's plenty of time for him to get an offer.

  • Kiel is a ND legacy as well I believe so IDK. Anyone of Kiel, Blackburn or Coney is an A at QB for this class IMO.

  • I'd put my money on Blackburn, but as you said, I don't think MSU can go wrong with any. They're all very talented players.

  • There is a post on that site that says he is the brother of Godin. Guess it looks like we know which way he will go if offered by scUM. Too bad! Good thing we are standing high with Ondre Pipkins, Schutt, and Jabari Dean.

    I am Matthew Godin's older brother, and I would like to make a comment regarding his quote. Matthew is a very competitive person, and he is frustrated because the new staff has not shown any interest in him despite the fact that he is regularly hearing from many other top programs.

    Knowing Matthew's personality, I specifically told him not to say anything negative about any school because I knew some of the reporters would try to elicit such comments. I am very frustrated and disappointed that he did not heed my advice, but he has tried to rectify the situation as best he can by clarifying things with Tom. My parents, my sisters and I have all spoken with Matthew today, and we are disappointed in his lack of maturity and composure.

    Each day, Matthew is asked my fellow students at school why Michigan has not offered him, and he constantly has correspondents from recruiting websites asking him about the issue. I can see why he is frustrated, but I do not condone his behavior.

    Matthew's dream is to play college football, and he has been a UM fan since he was a child. Both my father and my sister graduated from UM, and I am currently finishing medical school at the University of Michigan. We would love to see Michigan offer him. However, if the coaching staff does not find him to be a good fit, then it's not meant to be. He is extremely blessed to have his current offers, and I know that he will excel wherever he goes. Go blue!

  • so we went from thinking that we had a real shot a godin, to now knowing that pretty much as soon as UM offers he will commit to them.....weird
