True but Arjen suffered an injury during spring practices. I'd say Williamson has the best chance. Especially since Waynes is also still recovering from injury.

    This.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

Rocky - I take it from your list that you don't think any of the three incoming 2011 Frosh will be playing this season & that all will take the RS. That said, of those three, which of them would you think may have the best opportunity to see the field this Fall ?

Williamson by far; Colquohoun has to learn American football and his progress has been hampered by missing spring ball. Probably would have RSed anyways. Waynes was injured and they're going to want him to be 100% before he plays.

Williamson . . . man, I'm excited about him. The trash talking he was reportedly doing to Doran Grant was epic; you need CBs who are very confident. Plus he's 6'1 200, pretty much ideal CFB CB size and he's fast.

One thing to worry about Williamson is the high school he went to. Notoriously poor coaching school, loaded with talent year after year, but very poor on technique and coaching. He could need a redshirt for that reason alone. Dantonio will have to watch this one's mouth as well, on the basketball court he was quite the trash talker..

You want your CBs to play with a little chip on their shoulder. Just don't want it to get out of hand.

Seriously. Johnny Adams talks a ton of trash. The only issue I had was when he'd run his mouth to Julio Jones or Marquis Maze after they made 30 yard catches. And it didn't even stop after we were down 40 points. facepalm_msu

Trash talking is fine, but only when its within a reasonable limit.

this wasn't the point I was making douche. This wasn't a MSU vs UM thing.

I have seen many of his games in both sports. My nephew played basketball against his team 2x last year, and I saw 5 other games. There is a difference between swagger/confidence and what someone mentioned above (adams when losing, boubacar is another example). Dunbar routinely has way more talent then most of the schools in the dayton area but often lose to lesser opponents because they are all of the me me me variety. That was the reason I was thinking he could possibly redshirt. He has the build for sure, we will see how quick dantonio whips that attitude in shape.

  • Evening, Spartans.

Was hoping someone, or more than one person, could help out a Husker poster trying to find out a little more on CB Jermaine Edmondson.

I've linked his 247 Profile and the Nebraska site thread. I'm sure he'd be grateful if someone could give him some insight. I sure as heck can't help him.

    Thank you.

HuskerRule to Staffer: "Have you heard anything about Jermaine Edmondson, DB out of Ohio? Supposedly just got a Husker offer and is setting up an official. He has a pretty low rating on here but his highlights look impressive."

Teammate of current Spartan commit Se'von Pittman (DE). Many think he'll receive a Spartan offer soon. I like his offer list.

  • the kid looks really good, it sounds like he will earn an offer after the spartan 1 day camp in july unless someother db out performs him there. I think his film looks really good and i like his frame, i hope we offer him

That is what I was thinking, I was blown away by his 77 2 star rating though.

    He's a 3-star on scout.

According to rivals, runs a 4.43, 3.9 shuttle, benches 225, squats 325, and has a 33" vertical leap.

Pretty decent athleticism i'd say, and if he shines in a few camps I could see him picking up some big time offers.

  • yeah he's a bit under the radar but if he gets an offer from dantonio it would be a strong indication that he is a very good prospect as finding diamond in the rough DB's seems to be how dantonio gets off

Nebraska offer shows some talent too. I respect Pelini's defensive scouting. Amukamara was a 1st round pick last year and Alfonzo Dennard looks like a stud at CB this year.

Can't see us throwing out an offer here unless we miss both Burbridge and Madaris. 6'1 180lbs, 4.5 40-yard dash. High school is Wayne HS in Huber Heights, OH, same school as Jerel Worthy.

Wait until you see Ciante Evans. Played as a true freshman last year in place of Dennard when he had a concussion, he will be next in line for great DBs from Nebraska. Thanks for the info guys.pancake

  • Love the Nebraski fans getting in on this! Fellas, can we dust off the Ondre Pipkins thread please? RCR just made reference to his upcoming visit to his dad's place in Saginaw and he took notice of the Se'von Pittman commitment. It made him think twice and he's taking a visit to give us another shot. A JJ commit sure would add some additional reinforcement.

Hahaha, for some reason that struck me as hilarious. I figure after Dantonio satisfies his wife and whatever 10-15 sorority girls he brought home that night, he turns on his giant HD projector and scouts small school defensive backs. Once he finds the star CB, he can call Mrs. D back over and finish the job.

Edmonson looks very impressive for a kid with so little hype. Highlight film can be tricky with CBs though, guys who gamble all the time look great because they have so many big plays, while the long bombs they give up when they guess wrong are never seen. Players who shut down their side of the field don't have as many highlights, but can be the far superior player.

In all things, but especially in DB recruiting, in Dantonio I Trust.

  • I'm bored so here's some random stuff that people know but I somewhat consolidated for easy viewing/discussion. We're probably only going to take 1 DB this class.

    - S Jordan Fields is planning to come to the July 11 camp and then visiting MSU again on July 15. Currently he is down to Central Michigan, Kentucky, and Kansas. He is planning to make a decision soon, regardless of whether or not MSU offers.

    - There are some hard feelings between OSU and S Bam Bradley per Bucknuts due to miscommunication or a possible snub due to no offer. They believe Pitt has the lead due to Bradley's brother being a part of their 2011 class. He may actually project better as an LB in college.

    - CB/S James Sanford was at OSU's Senior Advanced camp but did not receive an offer from OSU. MSU has also stopped recruiting him as hard as they were. He plans to wait until after football season starts. If he ends up blowing up later on we might still have a decent shot.

    - S Jermaine Edmondson (teammate of Se'Von Pittman) picked up a Nebraska offer recently. He camped at MSU about 2 weeks ago but did not receive an offer.

    - S Antonio Johnson is a legacy prospect. May receive an offer after more camps and is high on MSU. His father played at MSU as well. Sean Scherer has a great article about his with an interview. If he gets an offer we'll probably get our DB for 2012 pretty soon after.

    - S D.J. Singleton from New Jersey has a rough draft of #1 Wisconsin, #2 Rutgers, #3 MSU. He's coming up with his top 5. No timeframe for commitment as of yet. (thanks to FriedWolverine)

  • A few notes from ESPN at Nikes camp "The Opening"

-Despite the growing trend to commit before one's senior season, several prospects said they were still wide open. Four-star prospect Sheldon Day from Indianapolis Warren Day, the 14th-best defensive tackle in the nation, said he's not even sure how many scholarship offers he has.

-Athlete David Perkins declined to declare he was totally done with the recruiting process despite being committed to Notre Dame. "I kind of think it's a commitment, but you only get to do this once," said Perkins, who plays in Notre Dame's backyard at South Bend (Ind.) Washington. Perkins, the 39th-best athlete prospect in the country, admitted he had strong interest in Michigan State, Tennessee, Oregon, Penn State and Syracuse before committing to the Fighting Irish last month.

Also some things about Bri'onte Dunn but its to big to post.

    Per Steve Wiltfong:

MSU is in Adolphus Washington's top 5 along with Bama, UM, Kentucky and Miami(Fl). He hasn't made any visits yet and plans to do so to all those 5.

Monty Madaris will camp at MSU on July 11, IF his ride works out

    Another PSU Verbal

Touted defensive lineman Jarron Jones to play for Nittany Lions

Penn State has snared a Class of 2012 commitment from ESPNU 150 Watch List defensive lineman Jarron Jones of Aquinas...

Aquinas football star Jarron Jones has taken his verbal commitment to attend Penn State back, but says the Nittany Lions are still in the running when it comes to making his college choice, but with stiff competition. Jones said on Tuesday that Notre Dame, North Carolina, and Virginia Tech are all in the running when it comes to making his decision.

"It was really a better way for me to explore my options," Jones said at a football workout in Rochester. "All four schools have an equal chance at me and we'll see where we go from there."

Aquinas Senior Jarron Jones Exploring College Options

Jones has rescinded his verbal commitment to attend Penn State, but hasn't ruled the Nittany Lions out when it comes to making his college choice.
