'13 TX C Dominic Woodson (MSU Offer)

Comp reporting on Twitter MSU has offered 6'9" 265 lb. TX C Dominic Woodson. Dane Fife apparently has been all over this one.
A big C, I love it. Likely close to 7 feet when he comes out of HS.

Yeah in one sentence he calls Woodson a "superb rebounder" and in the next he is "raw" and "not a good rebounder".
Not the best write-up, but I'm struggling finding stuff on the guy!

Scout shows offers from Texas Tech, Vandy, TCU, UTEP, and Tulsa. Not great company, but at least some interest from high major programs.
Also offered by Maryland.

I'm just excited at the idea of having an extremely tall center. It sucks not having anyone taller than 6'10" on the team ever. It would be nice to get in Texas more also. They seem to always have tons of great talent in the bigs ( I guess any state with that population would have a lot of prospects though).

I was able to find out UConn offered Woodson as well. This says alot for me as Calhoun has had some pretty good centers in his tenure at UConn.
He was central Texas newcomer of the year, averaging 9.6 ppg, and leading central Texas in blocks and averaging 9.3 rebounds per game.
Everything I have found says he is a raw talent, but some sites have said he has range to 15 feet. I could see this kid as a 7' 275 C, I would welcome that in the MSU program.

I skimmed through a thread @ illinoisloyalty.com and they seem to think he's all theirs. He was hurt for most of the July recruiting period, and many (including himself apparently) have questioned his work ethic and willingness to do what it takes to be a high major player. This may have caused Izzo to back off.

basically just talked about how he has a body like a DE and he is starting to use it to his advantage...has a nice little jump hook he uses well

They are recruiting him, just no offer yet. I assume they've got offers out to other bigs, and he's someone they are keeping in touch with. Texas has 3 Centers committed in the 2012 class, including Cameron Ridley, a 5 star with similar body type. TAMU has an offer out to 2013 big man Karviar Shepherd, also from Texas.
