Bill Plaschke says UCLA's coach is in trouble.
I'd be surprised if Schilling commits to a school that may fire it's coach in a month.
He is from Chicago but plays HS bball for Findlay Prep located just outside of Las Vegas.
MSU's last chance at a big recruit for 2013, big man Gavin Schilling will decide next Wednesday. Here, he breaks down his final four: MSU, Minnesota, UCLA and Villanova. From what I've seen, it really seems like it could go any way. On MSU: "Their program is a winning one. What Coach Izzo has done there is amazing. He is a player’s type of coach that spends much time with the team on the court getting his players better as well as off the court. I like Coach Izzo’s style of play and I like the Big Ten style of play. I have a good chance to make an impact as a freshman. The business program is also top of the line and the school is close to home." He apparently will announce his decision on Twitter, @GSchills32.
Has anybody heard around what time he will be making the announcment tomorrow?
Some of the posters on that site are pretty laughable. One accused Izzo of covering up a rape? Where do they come up with this stuff???
I hope Schilling goes green. He would be a great addition to the program.
Damn, you guys that cruise other sights set yourselves up for this nonsense....I'm sure that our other UM buddies told these UM (goopher) buddies sordid stories of gang rape committed by our team: who gives a shit?
Just a guess here but they're probably talking about the alleged sexual assault that occurred between 2 MSU freshman basketball players in a dorm room a couple of years ago. I won't include names since it would be speculation but the two individuals rumored to be involved are now juniors I believe. While I certainly don't believe that Izzo covered up a rape there are/were plenty of people that questioned what happened in that incident and how it was handled by the university.
EDIT: One of many links on the story below:

@GSchills32: I will now be announcing my decision at 12 30 pm PST opposed to 11 15 am!!!!!
That should be a non-story. The "victim" had severe credibility issues. Nothing was covered up by the coaches or the school. The players were open about what happened and were not charged. The Ingham County Prosecutor has never been reluctant to prosecute student athletes when the evidence merits same.

I was simply answering the question "where do they come up with this stuff?"
Your opinion of the incident is irrelevant. Somebody acted like the Minnesota posters were making something up out of thin air.
I was providing him with the story that they were almost certainly referencing.
Back to Gavin Shilling now and his 3:30 announcement that he'll (hopefully) be our 2013 recruiting class.
Go away Troll, nobody cares about your stupid post...
Why would you think he's a troll? He has a total of 2 posts and they are both about a 2-year-old accusation that was investigated and found to be without merit.
BTW: Come on down, Gavin! You won't regret your decision to don the Green and White!
I love lamp.
Gavin Schilling @GSchills32 14s
I proudly announce that I will be playing my college basketball at Michigan State University! Much love to all who supported me! #GoGreen
Verbal to Michigan State
Michigan State received its first 2013 commit Wednesday, as Henderson (Nev.) Findlay Prep PF Gavin Schilling announced his decision to attend MSU.
can someone give me a break down of his game? I don't follow bball recruiting for the most part, not familiar with Gavin's abilities.
Interesting, played with Okafor and Parker. Kid is young and has good size. Seems like he can fly.
In the link spot
Findlay Prep (Nevada) senior center and Chicago native Gavin Schilling committed to Michigan State via...
I looked through the thread looking for a highlight tape and didn't find one, so I figured someone else wanted to see it too:
Its five o'clock somewhere.
I really like this kid a lot. He will fit in. Tough and he might grow even more.
Big time offensive rebounder, runs court well, good athleticism, strength and jumping ability are a few things I noticed from a brief look at some video and stats.
EDIT: Although his offensive game appears limited, it should be noted that, at just 17 years old, Schilling is described as being a year younger than the rest of his class in school. He is not actually a year ahead, he is just not a year behind like so many recruits these days(or even two years behind:see 20 year old frosh Mitch McGary), plus he has a November birthday, so he should have a greater opportunity to develop than most.

Nice Chicago Tribune article from late 2011 on this unique player/person.
